I've seen some interesting methods on how people go about fishing from the SDV Discord server, so I'm curious how people "start/end" their fishing careers in a game

Well, I'm a very bad Fisher, don't have the Patience to stand at the waters die hours and don't even get a Hit... When finally reaching Level 1, I try to level up with crab pots and Fish ponds. Takes a bit of time, but I'm in no hurry. And the Travellers Cart sells most of the Fish I need for quests and the CC, so I get along anyway. It get's entertaining with the enchanted Iridium rod 🥰

Nice!! This plan sounds super solid! Good job paying attention to the cart for CC stuff!
Just wondering! Have you ever tried a training rod at the very beginning if fishing is too hard?

experience (and, thus, making your bar bigger/fishing easier) is more important than money to start out. So, yeah, training rod and focus on the ocean, where the fish are generally easier, until you've got a few levels. I don't even bother trying to get catfish on Day 3. The sooner you hit level 5 & 6, the less frustrating fishing becomes.

When I played at first I had the mobile version on an emulator. The only things I could catch reliably then was trash, and carp as long as it didn't move outside the bar of the training rod. The touch pad of my laptop is a bit iffy, reacting to about half the taps. So I gave in and installed it on my mobile.

The fishing game got a lot easier after that. Found the fish in the river were easier than those in the mountain lake apart from when it rained. I started several saves and discarded them after a while when I grew better at planning and fishing. I eventually got good enough at it to not need to buy the training rod, even if it takes a level or two before I can start making perfect catches. I've managed to catch every fish in the game, including the extended family fishes. In the two saves I've brought to perfection I had a bunch of Legend II waiting for me to make ponds for them.

I also had a lot of trouble with treasure chests early on. They'd distract me so I'd lose the fish as they lured me to try to go for them too soon. Now, before I can get an iridium rod and put a trap bobber or treasure bobber on it, I make sure to get the fish to almost caught before going for the treasure, though I still lose some fish from being too greedy.

I fish a lot in the really game, stop when I get better sources of money/other activities I need more time for. By the time I'm pretty high level (8+) and then I fish only for quests/fill up the collection. Also my current playthrough is decided not to go for legendary fish until I get fishing and farming mastery so I can get 3 of each (already messed up by forgetting and catching the radioactive carp)
In the late game if I'm in the mood I might fish just for fun, especially if it's raining, super calm and enjoyable that way

It's all about those treasure chests, you never know what will be in the next one, maybe something really nice ;)

Yes, I have, get the Training rod everytime from Willy, 'cause I never reach Level 1 Fishing in Spring Y1... Idk what my problem is besides missing patience 🤷. But the Crab Pot Bundle is quite easy to solve, so I get three crab pots then and after reaching Level 1 you have Bait, then it works for me. Slowly but constantly. Maybe Willy is wrong and I just don't have the right Mindset 😉
