How do you process your crops?

With kegs, preserves jars, dehydrators and selling crops raw available, I'm curious in what way others process their crops.

For kegs I tend to stick to hops and starfruit. I usually don't have a ton of kegs and these two give the best gold per day if you want to see an increase in value of at least 380g.

With early game preserves jars I just fill them with what gives the highest increase. In the end game, I tend to stick with the at least 380g increase in value, for both preserves jars and dehydrators.

This means for example that my normal quality cranberries end up in a dehydrator and the higher quality gets sold raw. I've seen some people put cranberries in preserves jars, but I'm too lazy for that.

At first I use kegs for wheat and hops, later there go any high selling crops: cauliflower, starfruit, pumpkin, pineapple, anything else if I run out of those. Ancient fruit too, but I don't plant a lot of it. Also coffee, I have a few separate ones just for that. Preserve jars process anything that doesn't fit into kegs + purple mushrooms and roe. I usually have more of them then kegs. Into dehydrators go mushrooms, all cranberries and everything from fruit trees.

Aren't cauliflowers better of in preserves jars?

I've got one shed with kegs, mainly running starfruit and ancient fruit. However, I sometimes take time out between those to run a batch of coffee beans, hops, or wheat. Coffee beans in particular are fun when doing an entire shed. The first finish before I've filled the last, so the spring/summer produce of 2 quality sprinkler's worth of coffee beans can be processed in one day and then turned over to something that takes longer to process.

The preserve jar shed is mainly for various berries (apart from iridium quality blackberries) and fruit. Growing just two iridium sprinkler's worth of the seasonal berries leaves time during the year to run just about any other fruits once it's been upgraded and filled, with maybe some pickles thrown into the mix.

The dehydrator shed is left small and handles the mushrooms. I've also got 10 preserve jars there to pickle the iridium quality mushrooms (and any quality magma caps). I don't reach the point of expanding my mushroom logs enough to need to upgrade the shed before I reach Perfection.

Maybe, but i don't really have any alternatives to put in kegs in spring. By the end of winter I'm often already running out of crops to process
Makes sense, the greenhouse can only produce so much. I usually only tap the trees at the bus stop, so I don't even have the kegs for rhubarb.

I didn't realize coffee is that fast, maybe I'll try that one day.

The berries are interesting. They increase with quite a factor, blueberries with almost a factor 4. But because the absolute increase is lower, it takes some time to make the money back that the preserves jars cost. However, you save on sprinklers. Interesting to think about.

These are very clear indications, thanks. I already apply most of them myself, but using preserve jars for mushrooms and magma caps is something that I usually overlook.

I use everything I can get or craft, kegs, jars, casks, Mayo Machine, cheese and oil maker... since I became a passionate artisan. Playing Meadowlands first I used to become Coopmaster, but on other Maps with less animals I chose Artisan, which is sooooo much better. And together with Gatherer it's kinda outstanding 😏

Depends on what the limiting factor is:

• In early game I Preserve more of everything as I have more of the limiting materials to make those than Kegs. Also limited crops to process!
• In middle game when ramping up, I Keg as many high value items as possible as I usually have enough high value Fruit to turn into Wine (also Pumpkin Juice) and the remainder goes into Jars
• In late game I have a Big Shed half full of each Kegs and Jars. Kegged Starfruit from 3x Summer Harvests goes to filling the Cellar and the remainder for the Kegging year is Ancient Fruit from the Greenhouse. Everything else (remainder Ancient Fruit, Pineapple, Rhubarb, Pumpkin, Tree Fruit) gets Jarred as I slowly fill the remaining 2/3 of my Storage Shed with Jars when I feel like it.

I rarely process anything else as it gets too complicated tracking more than Kegs and Jars. I have Cheez and Mayo machines in the Barn and Coop but they're out of sight out of mind so I'll maybe check and replace them once a week. More often in early game but they're not a big deal. Same goes for Dehydrator, Oil Maker, most others. The Recyclers get more action as they make some scarce early to mid-game resources (Refined Quartz, Iron Ore, Cloth, etc.).

For me, the short answer is yes. The long answer is that it depends on the item. I throw mushrooms in the dehydrator, as well as tree fruits. I throw any leftover common mushrooms I have in the preserves jar. Sometimes I'll throw fruit in there, but only rarely. Most of the time, I just throw everything in the bin. I generally process bulk harvests in kegs, like the time I grew hundreds of pumpkins. And of course, I reserve my ancient fruit for the kegs, because I am basic.

Honestly, I hate processing stuff. I prefer to plant ancient fruit with deluxe fertilizer and sell all the iridium fruit straight off. I do keg the lower qualities and I have set up the greenhouse to grow starfruit (it currently holds 118 which happily fills my cellar of 116 casks), but I get tired of refilling machines all the time.

I like having a lot of different stuff. So I start out thinking I'm going to be very efficient and profitable, and then I make a bunch of pickled peppers and cranberry wine, just because I don't have any yet. Squash juice is a thing!

I wish I could be like you. I don't have variety in my farm at all lol. Just one crop.

Just one crop.
Just one crop is definitely more labor efficient, space efficient, and makes the most money. However, I just love having a little bit of everything <3 These are my precious 3 squash plants and five flowers and six random fruit trees <3
