Windows Trouble connecting to friends

While trying to connect to a friends farm that we have previously played on, I kept crashing at the connecting screen. Kept trying as I was looking for answers and after about 15 mins it seemed to fix itself. I wanted to put the crash report somewhere to see if someone can tell me why it was happening and how to prevent it in the future.
