[Spoiler] Quest after 100 golden walnuts

Excuse me if I blather on here, nice with new stuff to do I guess 😊

How do people prefer to do Qi's Cuisine quest? It's the one for shipping produced dishes worth 100,000g.
I figure this quest and Qi's Prismatic Grange are to empty out all your underused piles of crops and stuff in fridges and chests, so my logic was always to see what recipes I could make the most of right away, make and ship those, then go back to Pierre's to buy more dry goods and finish up. I usually have triple digit blueberries and blackberries, and lately pineapples, and often have similar numbers of peppers and tomatoes, and visiting the beach on GI usually nets me a whole lot of extra sashimi, which is cheap but helps to top it up.

I know about that recipe, but I'm desperately short on copper bars too, and that's after buying a lot of copper, iron and coal from Clint. Back when I still frequented the skull cavern, I actually went there several times just hunting for copper ores. It was a freaky experience, ignoring stairs and even iridium in favour of lousy copper.
Skull Cavern is my go-to place for all the ores! So many nodes spawn there, plus I don't feel so bad using Staircases and Bombs in Skull Cavern. 😅

On my farm where I was filling Sheds full of Crystalariums, my shortage was Gold. In more recent saves, I value Gold just as highly as Iridium when I'm in Skull Cavern, because otherwise my ratio of Iridium:Gold is even more skewed (you need 2 Iridium Bars vs. 5 Gold Bars to make one Crystalarium)!

But are you sick of mining? Fed up with Clint's sky-high prices?

There is a poorly-known trick that is only possible is 1.5: "The Great Deconstructer Item Hack" or "cheaper bars", if you're sane.

One of the items Qi Gems can buy you is the Deconstructor. These cost 20 Gems each.

Essentially how they work is you put in a Craftable (any item that is on the Crafting page of your inventory), and they'll give you the most valuable item back from the item's recipe (after one IG hour).

Certain Craftables are also purchasable. If you Deconstruct these, you can get items that you couldn't previously obtain through purchasing/trading for them. The Wiki has a neat list (from https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Deconstructor#Tips):

So when purchasing ores from Clint, (assuming Year 2):
  • Copper Ore costs 150G each, and Coal costs 250G. ((150G * 5) + 250G) = 1,000G per Copper Bar
  • Iron Ore costs 250G each, and Coal costs 250g. ((250G * 5) + 250G) = 1,500G per Iron Bar
  • Gold Ore costs 750G each, and Coal costs 250g. ((750G * 5) + 250G) = 4,000G per Gold Bar
  • However, at Mining Level 6, it is cheaper to Transmute Iron Bars into Gold, so that's actually 3,000G per Gold Bar
As you can see in the table above, with use of the Deconstructor...
  • ...Copper Bars cost 500G each (1/2 of Clint's price)
  • ...Iron Bars cost 250G each (1/6 of Clint's price)
  • ...and Gold Bars cost 375G each (1/8 of Clint's price, or their Blacksmith sell price)
...!!!

What. A. Deal.

And with the added bonus of tradeable Iridium Ore & Radioactive Bars, you never have to go mining again!

–you're welcome! ;D

Thanks for a wonderful post, @Hill Myna. Those are indeed some creative ways to get back resources. I do have one deconstructor, but for this to be useful you probably need a whole lot of them. With that many crystalariums I can see how gold is the bottleneck for you. For me it has been iron and copper due to filling 4 sheds with kegs. Funnily enough I have over 450 oak resins left over, barely any iron or copper, but 200+ gold and iridium bars.

Your last line is a little concerning, though, haha. Never go mining again? 😱

PS: For spinners and suchlike, amount of uses left doesn't seem to matter. I had a dressed spinner with 1-2 uses left and put it in the machine, and still ended up with Cloth. So you can even use them, as long as they don't entirely complete, and still get back the resources. Very nice!

Thought about making this a bug thread, but as it is loosely connected to the origin intent of this thread, I'll put it here.

Are we supposed to be able to get several copies of the Legend II and suchlike? It's not possible for the original legendary fish. But during that quest I was still lacking the Crimsonfish (the one in the pier), and as the quest was during summer, I figured I'd try to fish up that one too after getting the Qi quest version. Another wicked wild one bit, but up comes yet another Crimsonfish Jr or whatever it was called.

Kept trying to take a screenshot with the hoverbox over that fish, but it's weird on my Linux version of the game. When I take a picture it lags behind from the previous picture taken for some reason, and after some 20 attempts I never got the right hover box thing up. Seems like there is a big delay or something. But you can see the fish here with a "2" next to it, to the right of the sword.

(I may have overestimated the difficulty of this quest, and made too many bobbers)

Absolutely. When fishing I always carry 2 cork bobbers, one in inventory and one on my pole. When the one on the pole is getting low, I swap it out. When I get back I put it in the deconstructor.

Again, absolutely. In fact, you can't catch the original legendary fish at all during the quest, only the next generation. Additionally, you can do the quest multiple times, like once per week if it keeps coming up... and it will come up again.

I didn't know you could catch them twice in one quest attempt but I have two Mrs. Anglers in my fishtanks(one with the original Angler, one with the complete junior set) and I think I sold a third.

Will stick this question here instead of starting a new thread for it. Is the only way to get Snake vertebraes from artifact spots? I've been to the west part of the island, which essentially means the farm++, over and over, day after day, and have never seen a single worm spot there, and ofc they are far from guaranteed to actually contain the correct item either. And I need two of the buggers. Presumably the wiki is correct and that is the only possibility, but you don't have any other hope for me?

Once you get one, you can manip RNG to ensure you get snake artifact.

Till it. If you don't get the snake artifact reset the day.
Till and random tile, then till the artifact spot. If you don't get it, reset and repeat, adding one random tilled tile each time.

The bone artifacts on Ginger Island are unique in that they use the number of tiles tilled when creating the RNG object.
