Small suggestions from a new player
There are a few little things I’d love to see added to Stardew Valley. Some of these may have been suggested before, but I wanted to share my own thoughts!
Birthdays for the farmer, pets, and children
The villagers all have birthdays on the calendar, so I think it would be lovely if the farmer had a birthday too!
It would be even better if the villagers had special birthday messages for you.
I’d also love birthdays for pets and children. I think it would make them feel even more like part of the family!
I’d absolutely become a proud parent and put a special hat on my pet or child just for their birthday and take pictures.
More colors for the long sofas
The long sofa currently only comes in brown, while the armchairs come in blue, red, green, yellow, and dark colors.
Having matching colors for the long sofas would make decorating much easier and would give rooms a more cohesive look!
A little more interaction with children
When children are babies, we can pick them up and play with them, which is really cute. But once they grow up, there isn’t much interaction besides tapping them and seeing the
.
I’d love little interactions such as holding their hand, going for a short walk together, or seeing them playing around the house.
I also really love seeing them spending time with Jas and Vincent, so seeing more little moments like that would be wonderful!
More interaction after marriage
Some villagers, like Jodi, talk about how difficult marriage can be. So I think it would be fun if, after getting married, other villagers sometimes asked things like:
“How’s married life?”
“Are you enjoying it?”
“Is taking care of the house keeping you busy?”
Little conversations like this would make the town feel even more alive, almost like chatting with other married friends.
And wouldn’t a wedding anniversary be wonderful?!
It could be something very small, like a special conversation, a present, or sharing a cake together. Nothing huge—just a little celebration would make me really happy.
More uses for the Community Center
After working so hard to restore the Community Center, it sometimes feels a little sad that it isn’t used very much afterward. 🥲
I’d love to occasionally see villagers gathering there for little clubs, activities, or community events.
It would be nice to see the building feeling alive again after everything the town went through to restore it.
🪑 A renovation mode for furniture placement
This may be partly because I’m playing on iPhone with touch controls, but sometimes placing furniture exactly where I want it can be quite difficult.
For example, if I put down a table and chairs and then decide I want to put a rug underneath them, I have to move all the furniture first before I can place the rug.
I really enjoy decorating and arranging furniture! So I think it would be nice to have an optional “renovation mode,” similar to Robin’s building-moving mode, just for situations like this or when moving a lot of furniture at once.
Maybe it could even allow different furniture layers, so we could place rugs underneath tables and chairs more easily.
This could absolutely be optional. I still really enjoy placing furniture normally, one piece at a time!
More interaction with the Adventurer’s Guild
I’ve joined the Adventurer’s Guild and enjoy exploring the mines and other dangerous places, but I sometimes feel like there isn’t much interaction with the Guild itself.
It would be fun if Marlon and the others occasionally gave us special missions, perhaps randomly generated ones such as:
“Defeat 10 Slimes!”
or other little tasks related to exploring and combat.
It wouldn’t need to be a major questline—just occasional special missions would make being a member of the Adventurer’s Guild feel more meaningful!
None of these need to be major additions. I just think little things like these could make Stardew Valley feel even more like a place we’re actually living in.
