Silly Mistakes You've Made?

I'm paranoid about having the weapon or scythe, though, since in Harvest Moon if you hit a villager or animal with a tool they would be (understandably) upset. I know that's not true in SDV, but I tend to default to the watering can just so I don't worry about it, even if I'm wandering around wasting energy and water. (Really, I'd also be kind of mad if someone came up and watered me, but the SDV villagers and animals are very forgiving!)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who accidentally bombed a whole Bunch of Machines away because I forgot that I still had Bombs in my Hand. I restarted that Day.
Listen, we all do that. It was over an in game year before I trusted my farmer to carry bombs. The very first time I did, thinking I knew what I was doing, I instantly blew up a couple chests. Yeah, it was a lot longer before I tried again.

Yeah, I’ve played 5+ years and this is a new term to me! I just keep swinging until the monster dies; is that what you mean?
Weapons have a secondary attack triggered by "the other button" - there is a cooldown period after you do the attack, where you can't do it again until some time passes (red timer bar shows up on all weapons of that type). For the sword, it's actually a block, not an attack that does damage. For hammers, the secondary attack is a big area of effect slam that hits all monsters in a short radius around you. For daggers, it is a triple strike in the direction you are facing. As I am not particularly coordinated, I tend to either use just the regular attack of the sword or slam the hammer - if I try to use the dagger, I often stab empty air because I did not aim properly.

If you are on mobile, I am not sure how these attacks get triggered, especially if you use auto-attack.

If you are on mobile, I am not sure how these attacks get triggered, especially if you use auto-attack.
Based on my experiences playing on mobile (Android) and using auto-attack, it seems like the secondary move (which is a block if you're using a sword, other attack types if a dagger or a hammer) gets triggered when you tap directly on a monster. I used to get super frustrated because I thought tapping on a monster meant to attack it in general. It does work, but in practice, I suspect using the secondary move is much more unwieldy on mobile than on a controller or keyboard. That said, I've reached perfection and can confidently take on the dangerous mines without needing it.

I also discovered that auto-attack will trigger and swing your sword at approaching monsters even while you are moving, if the "follow your finger" mode is active. If you've tapped-to-move and are on your way to the tapped point (without you actually touching the screen) then you are vulnerable on the way.

For this reason, if I'm fighting monsters I start to move once and then just don't ever lift my finger. Only after I've cleared out enemies will I start tapping on rocks or nodes to pickaxe them.

I feel like there's something everyone's missed, and then when you stumbled on it you felt so silly.

For me, I didn't realize until I had upgraded to a golden watering can that I needed to hold down for longer, to be able to water multiple spots. I thought upgrading meant it used less energy to water
Trying to marry Clint...

Since it says Coffee tree, and the trees are not watered, I did not water the coffee when planting) I also didn't know that the renovation of the club opens Ginger Island, so I took my time)

I talk to Clint /j

But actually, the big mistake I made was putting paths all around the valley because I heard they give you a speed boost. Turns out, that only applies to the farm.

I thought the months would be 31 days like in real life, so several crops were unnecessarily sacrificed in the final days of spring.
Also I didn't realize holding an item when you talked to someone would give it to them, so I gave Robin a piece of wood completely on accident.

Made a silly mistake yesterday. Decided to participate in the SquidFest. Got a full haul on both days, but on day 2 I forgot to get the prizes for it...
Oh well, I was mostly doing it for the seaweed anyway, as I got all the prizes the first year, but the mystery boxes would've been nice to have.

When I first got into the Mines I went there with a full Inventory and I somehow wasn't aware I could drop Items so I just threw the rosty Swort into the Trash. Fortunately enough I already knew I could restart the day.
