Standard Farm Sapling Farm Progress Thread

Hi everyone!

So I was checking out the Stardew farm planner, and I kept getting frustrated because I couldn’t couldn’t decide on the perfect layout! Does anybody have any ideas on how to expand my farm?

Note: I want to have a fish pond area in the bottom right and crop space on the entire right side. (I don’t farm too much, mostly slime ranches and coops & barns) Obviously my coop and barn space is in the top left, (I’ll add more coops and a barn soon) but I’m at a loss of what to do for most of the right side!

My advice, don't focus too much on being perfect. If you aren't enjoying it then you probably aren't doing it right. And if you're getting frustrated then sometimes taking a short (or long) break and coming back to it will help a lot.

One thing that helps me is thinking about where I'd like to put down paths, and then working from there. You can also decide if you want and fencing or border to your crops area, which could help inform how you want to lay out that section.

Based on my +200 hours in game experience, the Standard Farm is the hardest farm to arrange. That's because of the degree of freedom you have.

When I'm stuck I would see someone's farm and observe what I like and don't, then see if it can be incorporated or maybe with some modification to my taste.

Placing key building / area can help too. "No matter what I want to put my coop near the pond!" for example. And then you can work around it.

Now that you mention it, I think I’ll try that! I’ve never gone the Pirate route before. I already have some bait from the Ice Fishing competition, I’ll use that. Thanks for the tip!

Hi again!

New update, everyone. I finished Year 1 and the next time I play it'll be Spring 1 all over again! *nostalgia*

The end of the year is always eventful. Here are some new things that happened!

  1. I got Leah's 8-Heart Event! (I chose the online art website, as I chose the art show on one of my earlier playthroughs. I wonder who this mysterious Mr.K is? :wink:

  2. Kind of random, but I realized I had a lot of Cloth and decided to tailer some of my clothes! I went to the Oasis and bought Ice Cream, and used that and a bolt of Cloth to make myself a cool retro rainbow shirt! You may have noticed in the first two images that my farmer was looking a little bit different...

  3. Next update! I got the museum key from Gunther! I haven't met Krobus yet, but I'm planning on introducing myself soon. I'll add a screenshot when I do!

  4. Obviously, I'll meet Kent next time I play. When I do meet him I'll upload a screenshot!

I met Kent! I updated my previous post to add the screenshots. I've been planting for the first few days of the year, and here's my farm so far! (These are all parsnips and mixed seeds, and ONE ancient seed - yay!)

I'm planning on planting strawberries as soon as I can get them. And I'm saving up to get the next house upgrade so I can marry Shane and have kids.
