Yeah, the spouses lose 20 friendship points per day when you're married and don't talk to them/gift them. They also don't have a friendship cap where they stop losing friendship like every other friendship has, so you have to keep their hearts up or they get upset/grumpy.

Luckily they won't divorce you, so good luck on building up her friendship quickly

Don't forget to kiss them every day you can. Once they are at full hearts, that will keep their hearts up even without gifts. Not that I would never gift them, but they don't need a constant stream of presents.

although, if you want a constant stream of bribes presents, it's very easy to set up a semi-automated supply. One crystalarium or plant pot in the kitchen right next to your spouse's morning spawn point is [usually] all you need.
