Windows Prismatic Jelly quest

I killed the prismatic slime (in regular mines), but it didnt drop prismatic jelly, I got sneakers instead. It says on wiki that jelly drop rate shoud be 100%, I'm not sure if it's true, but in the quest menu "slay a slime" part is marked as done, and now I need to bring jelly to wizard.

My version is v1.6.14 build 24317
I'm playing in singleplayer, windows 10 (laptop)

It is possible for a Prismatic Slime to be a special slime. In this case, the Prismatic Slime will only drop one of the special items and will not drop the intended Prismatic Jelly.

i don't think the prismatic slime exists. i just ignore that quest now because i got sick of wasting 6 game days trying to find one every time it pops up on the board

It does exist, and its usually worth hunting for, because the reward (monster musk) is great.
My go to strategy is to use the elevator to check floors 25, 15 and back to 0 to reset. I usually find it in the given week or less, though if you get unlucky you might need to take it for the second time. Speed buffs and zooming out helps for checking the floor quickly.

Yeah resetting early floors is the way to go as it stands out against the background. Just cycle 5,15,25,0 over and over, and don't bother going down staircases or searching floors, as you can reset a dozen times in the (in game) time it takes to run from the start of a floor to its end
