Online-Local Co-Op, Farmhand Can Add Local Player

I don’t know if there are restrictions to adding this feature or why it hasn’t been added yet but it would mean the world to me. Me and my girlfriend play SV religiously and I got one of my buddies to buy it so we could have him and his gf on one pc and me and my gf on another on one farm but you can’t. Only the host of the game can have up to 4 players locally and we aren’t able to have my buddy add his gf locally to the game. Just being able to play online with 2 separate instances of spit screen would be ideal. Even if it’s limited to 2 each instance if it’s too demanding on PC hardware.

It's not the way you suggested but alternatively, you could create a VPN-connection between both places and then play as a quasi-local foursome.
