Hey everyone! I am new to Stardew Valley! What are some tips that you can offer when I am playing to better my character?
Here are some threads to look at:
My biggest tip would be to not look at guides, forums, reddit, wikis, facebook groups or anything, until you've had a chance to explore the game and work it all out for yourself. It's a magical game and the best bit of it is wandering around the world for the first time, and discovering everything. You can never have that first time again, it's a one off. And there's virtually nothing you can do in this game which can be considered an irreversible mistake - almost everything can be undone.
Once you have completed two or three years of a farm, and you have logged maybe 75 to 100 hours of playing time, that's the time to consider looking up guides and what other people do.
Enjoy it and have fun.
Another thread that may be helpful:
Buy and use the training pole until you have at least fishing 3. Sure, you'll only catch cheap fish, but you'll be able to catch them.Be patient with yourself when you first try fishing. It's tough for a level or two, but gets easier. The mountain lake is a great place to fish when you're starting because carp are lazy.
Pretty much this. I also always tell people to not look at guides and wikis, and to not listen to someone else's "best strategy" because honestly, there's no penalty for going too slow in this game, so take your time. Most of the things they tell you are probably things you'll figure out in your own time anyways.Honestly? Take it slow and enjoy it. This game is quite fun to play through a second or eighth time but that first time is really something special. Don't ruin it by doing it someone else's way.
Do it your way.
