New To This WHOLE Thing! What Is Your Best Tip For NEWBIES?

My biggest tip would be to not look at guides, forums, reddit, wikis, facebook groups or anything, until you've had a chance to explore the game and work it all out for yourself. It's a magical game and the best bit of it is wandering around the world for the first time, and discovering everything. You can never have that first time again, it's a one off. And there's virtually nothing you can do in this game which can be considered an irreversible mistake - almost everything can be undone.

Once you have completed two or three years of a farm, and you have logged maybe 75 to 100 hours of playing time, that's the time to consider looking up guides and what other people do.

Enjoy it and have fun.

Yes that is what I have been trying to do. There is a LOT of things in this game to learn! Thanks for the tips!

I spent most of my first year and a half just exploring all of the skills and figuring out what I liked best. For me, foraging and mining were my favorites and I realized I preferred animals to crops. That helped me decide where to invest, what tools to upgrade first, etc.

Things like this you can't learn from a guide but, after you have your direction, it is easy enough to learn how to perfect your chosen style of gameplay.

I completely agree about the training rod for fishing. Definitely needed it on my first save file but was able to skip it my second play through after I was better at the mini game.

Honestly? Take it slow and enjoy it. This game is quite fun to play through a second or eighth time but that first time is really something special. Don't ruin it by doing it someone else's way.

Do it your way.
Pretty much this. I also always tell people to not look at guides and wikis, and to not listen to someone else's "best strategy" because honestly, there's no penalty for going too slow in this game, so take your time. Most of the things they tell you are probably things you'll figure out in your own time anyways.

Oh and also, the parrots are evil. At least in stardew anyways.

I can offer some universal advice that should be equally applicable no matter how you choose to approach the game.

-If you're not sure what to do next, open your inventory to pause time. Time is precious and you don't want to waste it doing nothing.
-If you're not sure what an item is or what it can be used for, don't sell it.
-If something really, really awful happens, you can restart the day from the beginning.
