Hmmm lets think about how to Farm these Luck Totems:
10
Blobfish ponds will give you 1
Pearl about every 5-6 days
• 1
Prizzy Shard a day with Perfection
• 4
Prizzys in 1 casual
Bombing trip to Skull Cavern
Grandpa's cat statue spits out out about 1
Iridium bar every day
plus you get loads of Iridium (2 stacks easy for 40 Bars) from your Cavern Tour with added Bombs™.
So your limiting factor is the Pearls and that's with sacrificing a lot of your Farm to Ponds. You can Fish for them with Treasure Hunter tackle and other Luck Buffs like Lucky Lunch but that's time-consuming and low probability. Seeing is as this is clearly a late-game item, I like that balance but the cost seems pretty steep compared to the benefit it being merely a guaranteed Max Luck Day.
That makes it generally match a +2 Luck Buff like
Pumpkin Soup but less than +3 luck like
Lucky Lunch and much less than +5 Luck like
Magic Rock Candy.
So lets compare to Lucky Lunch and Magic Rock Candy:
Magic Rock Candy can be obtained once a week from the Dessert Trader (mmmmmmm deeeesseeeerrrttt!) for 3 Prizzys. That's 1 Trip to SC or 3 days at Perfection. IMO that's a better ROI than the Luck Totem.
Lucky Lunch is made from
Sea Cucumber,
Tortilla, and
Blue Jazz. Flowers are easy to grow in bulk (lol the storage of Blue Jazz is a low point in the game though). I buy Wheat from Pierre to make Tortillas, it's not even worth it to grow. Sea Cucumber can be farmed in 1 Pond for a new one seemingly every 2-3 days so that's 2-3 per week with minimal effort. Make 2 Ponds for more! This also seems to be better ROI than the Luck Totem.
But the different Luck sources STACK. So yes the addition of the Luck Totem makes sense for targetted days to guarantee High Luck in late game for your SC run or whatever else you might want to do. It's a good planning item for the good planner.
