And I almost ate it! While fishing for the legendary fish (I caught it too! :D ) I was going to snack on the gift Leah gave me that morning until I saw that the mushroom would have a negative impact. She’s never given me anything that had a negative impact before.

The Red Mushroom is also a disliked gift by everyone in the Valley, except Penny who hates it. Why would Leah me a gift which is universally disliked and will poison me if eaten?

Is my wife out to get me or…?

Maybe she was warning you that you can't just hoover down anything you pick up, so that you don't mix up your 'shrooms when you're in the Mines and running out of energy could be fatal!

Or maybe it was a special mushroom with an even number of spots on it, and she wanted to show it off!

Nothing telling, just that she loves mushroom foraging and that she found this for me. I don’t remember word for word, but she didn’t mention it was poisonous or that I shouldn’t eat it. It’s also odd, because it’s Spring. Usually she only gives me mushrooms in the Fall

Maybe she thinks you know that you can't eat them raw, but they are useful for making life elixir.

I never tried to make life elixirs. Thankfully I keep all my forage items, so now I’ve made three! Thank you everyone!

If you picked the mushroom cave, you should definely craft life elixirs once you no longer need the extra cash brought by the mushrooms.
