Switch Items disappearing from (not full) inventory [v1.6.15 build 11 crafting bug]

I play on switch and just updated to the switch 2 edition. I had a frog skeleton in my inventory and a treasure totem. Both randomly disappeared. I noticed the frog first and thought maybe I accidentally sold it, then the treasure totem disappeared a couple days later. Sad 😔 I checked the secret woods for the crow (not there) and the lost and found box (empty).

I finally bought the furniture catalogue after saving up for a while. I tried to use it a couple days later, and it was completely gone! I looked in all my bins, in my barn, coop, fridge, lost & found, adventurer’s guild, I restarted the day without saving, everything I could think of. Can it be sold? I’m wondering if I accidentally sold it?? The money is still gone, is there a way to get it back? Help please 😭 🙏.

From my recent loss of rare items, they seem to be consumed inappropriately when using the workbench for crafting. It could be crafting without the workbench too. I have not yet drawn that conclusion because I am now afraid of what other rare items might be consumed inappropriately if I were to test it.

Literally created this account to share this same issue. Kept losing my horse flute mysteriously and couldn't figure it out. Had to exit out of the game three times, each time after losing my horse flute. Then I went through the exact same movements to figure out what was causing it to disappear and 100% is caused from being consumed inappropriately at a workbench. I'm using a Switch, and using the newest update.

I've had two horse flutes disappear and literally every single thing out of my "artifacts" chest - every treasure chest, every ancient doll, dwarf scroll, frog, monkey, etc - I'm gutted. It also won't let me craft more than one tuft of blue grass... like it will let me but it will only put one in my pockets and the rest glitch out of existence. Also I went to open a chest and it jumped through another chest to the other side and I had to pickaxe it all the way back around. It's so glitchy I want to cry.

Yes same!!!!! Okay I thought I was crazy I lost all my omni geodes and mystery boxes. One specific instance it happens with is when I am crafting. For example, I crafted a treasure totem and it used a cup of coffee, a farm totem, a moss, and worst of all the stardew valley rose you need to give to sandy! Attached are pics of my inventory before and after crafting

I think I've just run into this same problem! I have like items in chests all around a work bench, it's out of all walking paths. I lost mystery boxes, golden mystery boxes, over 200 omnigeodes, (edited bc I figured it out) and trinkets from one chest, furniture and rare items (treasure chests, pearls, etc) from another. All three big chests around my work bench are missing at least half of the items from being almost full.

I thought maybe it was just taking the first few slots or the first row but I keep weapons in one of my chests and those are fine but the middle section from the organized big chest is gone

I'm on switch, year 3 of this particular farm, newest update and version never had a bug in any of my saves or my switch before

I don't know if they just disappeared, or if my game allowed me to craft something with them, but all of the galaxy Souls I had in my inventory are gone :(

I had a stack of 999 coal that disappeared on the switch 1.

I am having the same issue, all my omnigeodes, and even my calico eggs. I’ve lost so much stuff and I play on switch 1. Heartbroke

There's currently a bug with crafting certain things where it consumes the wrong items. It's possible that it happened to your galaxy souls

So far it looks to me that valuable items are consumed while using the workbench. I haven't been willing to risk testing the theory by crafting items that are just in my personal inventory. Until things are fixed I have been holding only the items necessary for crafting and nothing more. I lost a fairy box, a mummified bat and cinder shards at a minimum.

I have definitely decided it was the crafting bug, as my 14 farm totems are showing as a 14 worm bins, 14 mystic syrups, and 14 of every jelly when hovering over craftable items.

Moral of the story is, do not keep your ultra valuable items in your inventory for now 😔

I'm so glad you've reported it and they're aware. I have no idea how to do this - I was under the impression that this was the way to do it and I created this account due to this specific issue. As others, I'm playing on Switch 1, the vanilla-ist of vanilla versions. I'm trying not to craft anything right now. :(
