Is it possible to make a million gold by the end of Spring?

I was just really curious if something like that is possible. Multi-player it'd be more doable, but what about single player? I figured the total earnings overall, not current earnings.

On older releases, I know several youtubers who used a duplication glitch on crops to make money, can't remember if they made it to a million or not.

Glitch has been fixed as of 1.6 though, so I'll go out on a limb and say probably not, but I'll defer to those with greater knowledge than me...

That's kind of why I said no cheats/glitches, it wouldn't be as interesting, imo anyway.

At the risk of arguming semantics, you never 'said' glitches. And gaining an advantage by exploiting something in the game's code (and taking it to ludicrous extremes in the example above) would fit the second part of your sentence.

With the right seed and some great foraging/mining/artifact spot luck, it’s probably possible, but it would take a lot of seed finding and dedication, because one wrong item from a chest can be a grave mistake

I suppose so, though I always thought of cheats/glitches as the same thing, though thinking about it, I can see why some people might not think so.

I think expenditure is not subtracted from that number in-game. So you could buy and sell something from a shop at a loss. I'm not sure which item whould provide the least amount of loss. So perhaps you only need to "earn" a fraction of the 1mil and then buy/sell the rest of the way.

The only real way I can think of that isn't an exploit is, frankly, intense fishing, since it's the only source of immediate income.

It's possible, though it's either pretty boring or requires some skill.

There are a few 'easier' ways to do it:
1. Skull Cavern diving, requires obviously being quite good at running skull cavern and some immediate mining to actually afford it ASAP, it scales super fast immediately but it can be harder to maintain that going forward if you have strings of bad luck days you don't want to continuously reset, usually a upper limit I see people in intro-decent minmax get is like 500k but you could totally push that, it's just more effort and time to practice

2. Geode farming, only really 'good' if you're seeding it, but seeding it and perfectly optimized animation cancelling and pause buffering can net you a million in a single day, probably less than 5% of that if you're not doing it optimally though, it's super super brutal optimal, but not horrendous otherwise

3. Radioactive ore, pretty time crunchy and probably something you want to do seeded rather than having to reset whole 20-day save files for, but it's totally possible to have a week+ to farm, even the whole second week double stacked danger mines to farm if you're early enough, though that's definitely in the realm of seeded (back to back quests) if you want to be realistic with your irl time

4. Just plain diamond farming. This one is probably a mix of having to be very good at pause buffering and having no care to waste basically a hundred hours of your life, probably the worst option overall honestly, but it's possible? I've been able to pull like 30k a day diamond farming and upwards of that on good days, so it's up to you how much you want to reset

The best buy/sell item I can find is flour->bread. 100g to 60g. Apparently you only need 400k before you can start buying flour from pierre, cook to bread, sell back to pierre and repeat, to reach 1 million total earnings.
