1.6 Update I Feel Bad Fixating on Bugs :/

I know it's a common take that ConcernedApe is one of the most beloved developers in modern gaming. Which is why I feel so bad pointing out all the bugs in the new console patch! I know he worked his behind off to get it to us ASAP so I kinda feel guilty thinking about all the annoyances that weren't there before. Anyone else feel this way?

I feel ya, the sentiment is 100% valid, but I also echo what others have been saying - and to be honest, I rather CA release the game early on the console with some issues than have it delayed (but this is my preference only, I have been itching seeing what PC players can do lol, the Big Chests alone are worth the bugs).

A little trick I do when major releases like this happen (for any game) is I delay updating the game until I understood its contents and am ready for the update and fully embrace all the little bugs I see. It's of course not on the players to make sure their environment is stable but it's still something we can do when things aren't what we envisioned.

Some of the bugs are frankly quite interesting (leaves and pedals glitching out on the screen is hilarious, and having Emily disappearing on me one day was intriguing) which made my experience much more engaging and fun (I really love the hunt to see where Emily is, or why that raccoon is lying through his teeth about his expanded shop). Some of them can be frustrating for sure. For those ones the more you detail the reports, the faster they get fixed. From the Bugs and Reports section, I already see some of them being marked as "Solved"!

It's also a game at the end of the day, it's meant to be a fun experience, so if it isn't fun for a while, consider step away and come back another time! Time heals everything, and CA will get every single nook and cranny of code explored to weed out every bug we can find I'm sure of it (not enough weeds to get that Living Hat though I'm afraid).

Stardew Valley and I always have this on and off relationship, but I'm even more engrossed with it the next time I come back!

Just don't fixate. Report, sure, that's valuable info. But then go on with your game and your life. Most bugs don't cause the game to be completely unplayable, so think of it as a challenge run to work around them.

Don’t be!

Finding bugs, trying to make them as easy as possible to replicate for developers is not only quite fun (many have probably seen my many videos on posts on loads of bugs), but is helpful for the community as a whole.

You’re doing yourself, the devs, and the community a favour by finding bugs (and making sure to properly report them with as much info as possible)

good luck bug finding!

It's okay, I feel the same way (especially with one particular... item), but that just means it'll be a great relief when it gets fixed! Just don't let them ruin your experience or anything!
Is there a designated thread for 1.6 console bugs?

Naw but I've seen there are a few common ones that get reposted often:
- Adventure Guild items
- Queen of the Sauce Cookbook
- Raccoon shop not expanding
- Visual glitches for work bench / cooking materials marked as missing
- The petals in Fall and Spring being clustered in a weird way
- Crashes with multiplayer, etc.
- No rain (I have not experienced this)
- Divorce crashes game

These are like the major bugs that don't delve into some niche topics. I have seen the sticky on Help & Bug Reports: it should be fine even if some may be duplicate as there are no rules against it, so if you did your due diligence and it was still a duplicate, it's probably fine.

I had no rain all of fall, after very little in spring and summer, and am keeping one pig exclusively to make rain totems now.

Any idea how long between now and patches for the current bugs? Is this a December thing or a February thing? I'm playing regardless, but I want to start a new save with my hubs in multiplayer, and I see it has bomb and crashing issues on xbox, so we are putting it off. Just wondering if it will be a thing we can do over the holidays while we are snug and warm inside or if it will be more like spring rain season. :D

We need to fixate/focus on them and report everything we find, and keep pushing for fixes and patches. At some point, support for the update is going to cease as CA and teams move on to other things. We have to make sure they're aware of all the issues so everything is put to bed and fixed before that happens.

Imagine having to deal with the save file glitch, the PlayStation trophy issues, the crashes and bugs, the poor performance on switch, or any other of the plentiful problems for months and months? Hopefully it won't be more than a few weeks until everything is fixed, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see

Crashes/Performance issues are probably the hardest to deal with I think. There may not be one solution but multiple optimizations to improve but not resolve them. Even before 1.6, I've had crashes often in multiplayer on the Switch, and I can't imagine it'll ever be completely resolved (e.g., if you have a farm full of animals, junimos, on split screens - I can imagine things will just have to crash eventually)

I think some limitations may make certain things more impossible, and I agree, the more details there are for certain things, the easier to reproduce the issues on their end, and faster they can understand what some experiences.
