It's installed on Chromebook and was downloaded through Google play store, and I have it on mobile phone. Hope this helps! What was it installed ON? That's much more significant than where it was purchased. PCs (Windows, Mac, Linux) can handle almost any mod, as can Steam Deck. Consoles can't do mods at all (this is the decision of the companies that make the systems much more than it is ConcernedApe's choice). For mobile devices Android can, albeit with a shorter list than PCs, but iOS cannot.
I have Stardew on my PC and on my Android phone, and both are modded in different ways.
That probably makes it the Android App version. So some mods will work but some won't.It's installed on Chromebook and was downloaded through Google play store, and I have it on mobile phone. Hope this helps!
Could you show me how it looks like? Like a screenshot? If you can't that's fine. I'll try to figure it out! And thanks for the instructions! That probably makes it the Android App version. So some mods will work but some won't.
The basic instructions for loading the thing you need to run mods (SMAPI) are here:

Modding:Installing SMAPI on Android - Stardew Valley Wiki
This page explains how to install SMAPI (the tool which lets you use mods) on Android.stardewvalleywiki.com
Try that and see if it works for your version. If so, you will have a SMAPI icon as well as the Stardew icon that you can launch your game from. Launching from the Stardew icon will run vanilla, launching from SMAPI will run modded. (You will NOT see your unmodded farmers from this, at least I didn't).
If that works, you next need to add mods. Which is pretty simple, but try the first part to even see if it's successful.
