How do you name things?

Honestly? It depends. Like lately, I've used ACNH characters as naming themes for my barn or just names I think are cute. I name the dinos after the alphas from my hubby's park in his Jurassic World game.

However, my pigs are just all of my friends(with their permission, of course).

Pigs are friendly and highly intelligent animals, so that speaks in favour of your friends.

Not very original, but different foods. Sirloin the cow, Fricassee the duck, Bo Ben Quinn the pig, Stu the rabbit (sorry @MogBeoulve ), etc..
Dinos got Jurassic Park characters (Ellie, Nedry, Muldoon).
But my favorite (though wrong species) is a call back to my childhood, named in honor of the greatest villain of all time, my void chicken,
NEGACLUCK!!!
