If simply dragging the animated image into your post doesn't work (and it didn't work for me), then I think the method below should be more sound.

This is the way I did it:

• I found the animated picture I wanted to use. In this case I want the one from the top of https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Bug
• Then I clicked on the animated picture itself, which takes you to https://stardewvalleywiki.com/File:Bug_Anim.gif
• There is a .gif file linked below the first animated bug:

• I copied that link
• When I came back to my post, I used the forum-provided "Insert Image" function, and swapped the tab from the default "Upload image" to "By URL"
• I pasted the .gif link
• And it worked!

I trialled this method with a couple other pictures (from my search browser this time). It seems you have to copy the link to a page like this, a page with just the animation on a white background.
