PC [HELP] Secret Notes not in my game

In an old save, I don't have a secret notes tab in my collections menu, nor have they been dropping in the world. Is there any way to update to add them in? I have features from 1.4 and 1.5, but not this one.

Did you do the winter mystery quest?

They'll only drop after the quest, and that would add the tab as well.

I just checked a save that's before winter year one and it doesn't have the tab either.

Have you gotten to winter yet? If not, you will not see that tab because you haven't had the opportunity to get the "magnifying glass" yet.

If it is winter, to get that unlocked, you must enter the bus stop from the farm between 6am and 4pm. That will start the mini-quest that unlocks the "magnifying glass" for you. The "magnifying glass" is what unlocks the ability to find secret notes and the tab for them in the menu.
