PC [HELP] Can't Fish in the Ice Festival

I've had several times during the Ice Fishing Festival where I cannot fish. It works for maybe one or two casts, and then I miss once and just...get stuck. I cannot move, I cannot reel the rod back in, I either have to wait it out or completely close the game.

Are you using any fishing mods or the instant-catch option in CJB Cheats Menu?

I had that problem if I used instant catch and cast too far to miss the water. Main way I could do it was to stand next to the water and tap-cast so it was the shortest possible cast.

Same premise for the fishing mini-game during Fall Fair.

No fishing mods. I don’t use mods at all. I’ve had the same glitch during the Fall Festival as well.

Sorry about that. This bug has been plaguing the game for a long time, and we still haven't been able to reliably reproduce it. It seems to happen randomly, and not only in festivals. If someone encounters a way to reproduce it 100% of the time, that would be extremely helpful to try and fix it.

That's interesting though - it looks like at least something is already broken by the time you reel in the fish you caught. Look at how your farmer stands vs my test farmer. It's still like that when you cast out again.

(I've tried a lot to make this happen on purpose, and it just doesn't ever (not) work for me. :( )

Just wanted to post this in case someone experienced unable to be fishing during festivals like I did! Hopefully it may help someone out. I played on version 1.6.8

Possible solution I found by accident: spam buttons during ice festival minigame, leave while countdown is still ongoing and end the festival early, try using tools (farmer should be doing fishing animation with a plain fishing rod), dont save and return to title, start the day again.

Fishing outside of festivals was fine for me, but fishing during festivals wasn't working at all: I was unable to fish in the fishing mini game in the fall festival and during the festival of ice. When the countdown began for the mini game in the festival of ice, I tried many inputs to see if it would work. When I saw it wouldn't work, I just left the festival during the minigame. I wanted to replace a scarecrow with a rarecrow before the day ended, but found that I was just constantly doing the fishing animation. All of my tool animations were replaced by the fishing animation in the festival (the fishing rod was plain). I restarted the day out of curiosity and found that I was suddenly able to fish during the ice festival. It worked even after I closed the app and started up the game once again.
