These are some concepts I came up with over the course of time, and with 1.6 being teased I figured I'd post them here so they stop collecting dust.
KENT (6+ hearts, as well as 6+ hearts with Emily and Elliott each)
More to come later . . .
KENT (6+ hearts, as well as 6+ hearts with Emily and Elliott each)
You come upon Kent having a panic attack due to his PTSD, and you help calm him down. He comments that he's come to trust you and asks if you can think of a good way he can face his trauma head-on. You have two options available:
- (Emily) "What if Emily taught you how to meditate on your experiences?"
- (Elliott) "What if Elliot helped you write a book of memoirs from the war?"
In either case, Kent will be hesitant but willing. A week or two later, when you enter the house of the person you suggested Kent see, a cutscene begins where he is with the person and discussing events (be it via meditation (Emily) or an interview (Elliott)). Kent experiences a flashback in the war zone where one of his friends stands in the line of fire to protect him. While Kent is trying to help this friend, the friend tells him to make a run for camp, pointing out how Kent has a wife and kids to think about, and the friend also asks Kent to contact their family. The flashback ends, just as you walk in to see Kent on his knees in tears. You awkwardly turn to leave having unintentionally interrupted the session, but Kent asks you to stay. He thanks you for making the suggestion and is apparently happy that he can now remember his friend's face and actual name (as opposed to just their callsign). He then bolts home so he can call the friend's family like he promised. After this experience, Kent's dialogue changes to reflect that he has been sleeping better and is much less stressed overall (example: no longer freaked out by the open field at the Flower Dance).
KENT & JODI (8+ hearts each, after Kent's suggested 6 heart event)You walk into their house, just as Kent is suggesting that the two of them take a two-week vacation to make up for lost time and rekindle their romance. Jodi hesitates and worries about leaving their kids for such a long time, but Kent suggests that Sam can take care of himself and that Vincent could be looked-after by a combination of Caroline, Marnie, and Penny. Jodi is more comfortable with the idea now, but asks when they should go. This is when they notice you walk in, so they turn and ask what you think would be the best time of year to take a vacation:
- Late Spring (15-28)
- Early Summer (1-14)
- Late Fall (15-28)
- Early Winter (1-14)
(These times were chosen to avoid their family's birthdays as well as the Feast of the Winter Star.) Each following year after this instance, the entire family of four will take a family vacation at the chosen time, but only for the first week. If you are married to Sam, one week out from the family vacation he will ask if it would be alright for him to go with them that year or if you need him to stay and help around the farm. Asking him to stay will not affect friendship in any way, but encouraging him to go will win some bonus friendship with him and his family.
PIERRE & SHANE (8 hearts each, community center complete)
Two interactions will happen, but the order in which they happen only makes a small difference in dialogue options:
- Visit Pierre’s General Store on any day and hour that he is working behind the counter. A cutscene will play where Pierre greets you and strikes up a conversation. He will comment: “Business has been booming ever since JojaMart closed. However, Caroline has been frustrated that I’ve been spending even less time with her and Abigail, and I have to admit I’ve been feeling pretty overworked. If I could find someone to cover weekends, I could spend more time with the family and pick up a hobby for myself!”
- If this cutscene occurs first, you reply, “I’ll keep my ears open to hear if someone is looking for a part time job.” Pierre thanks you.
- If this cutscene occurs last, you reply, “I heard Shane is looking for some part time work. Why don’t you talk to him?” Pierre will reply, “That sounds perfect! I’ll talk to him next time I see him. Thanks!”
- Visit Marnie’s Ranch while Shane is there. A cutscene will play in the barn setting from Shane’s 8-heart event, where he greets you and strikes up a conversation. He will comment: “I tell ya, I don’t miss that job at JojaMart – too many hours and not enough pay! However, while selling eggs (and not drinking my money away, haha) has been making ends meet, I can’t deny I’d feel better if I had a small, part time job for a bit of extra security.”
- If this cutscene occurs first, you reply, “I’ll keep my ears open to hear if someone is looking for a part time employee.” Shane thanks you.
- If this cutscene occurs last, you reply, “I heard Pierre is looking for someone to cover weekends at his store. Why don’t you talk to him?” Shane will reply, “That sounds perfect! I’ll talk to him next time I see him. Thanks!”
Regardless of order, Shane will start working at Pierre’s General Store on weekends (Sat & Sun) from 8am to 6pm (manning the counter from 9am to 5pm) beginning the next Saturday after the last conversation. Both Shane and Pierre will occasionally comment how they’re glad to have made this arrangement.
More to come later . . .
