Going back in time?

Hi again, I accidentally left my game unpaused and lost a few days, I was wondering if there was a way to go back in time more than a day, and how I would do that. I've found the wiki page for duplicating and undoing saves, but I've very tired and don't understand any of it. Hopefully I can make sense of in in the morning, but until then, any advice would be appreciated.

If you're playing on PC or mobile, you can go back to the previous day with some save file magic (as it sounds like you were just reading about), however you cannot go any further than that. And if you play on console, this wouldn't even be an option.

Unless you have a backup, which once again isn't possible on all platforms, unfortunately there's nothing you can do. :(

Hopefully you didn't skip any crucial dates!

It can be done. I’ve done it successfully, but you need to get your save on PC, then edit multiple values in the save. It’s not without issues even then (I avoided checking my mail until I was past the original point, but still got duplicates of some messages. You also can’t undo crop growth or tree growth without a *lot* of work). But I went back 18 days or something successfully, and without introducing any long term glitches or issues.

if it’s something you’re seriously considering doing let me know, I can write up a how to guide for you.

Hello! Sorry I replied like SUPER late but if you still know how to do it or you have a video or some sort with instructions on how to do it that would be amazing and greatly appreciated! I accidentally left my save up overnight and missed 10 days 😭

You need to update certain values in the save file located in appdata folder. Once you open the file *your farm name*_*some numbers* with notepad, change values dayOfMonth, currentSeason, and year to the ones u want. Save the changes and date will be rolled back or forward. However, the state of other objects will not change. You don't need to change the file with "old" in the name.

Make sure to create a copy of the file too, always better to be safe than sorry

I, too, would like instructions. I seriously don't want to start this game over! I don't know when to find app data files. I messed this up today, so I am thinking it might be recoverable .... Thank you!!!

This is not working it just changes the date on the profile but then in game it doesnt ?

Hello! I'm midway through creating a guide for exactly this; I've been going through and collecting attribute names and validating the impact of changing the values. Keep an eye on the thread I've created in the guides section; by the end of this upcoming weekend if not earlier that'll be updated. But the tl;dr version is that some attribute need to be updated in both the file referenced as well as "SaveGameInfo" in that same folder. The date is one of the attributes which need to be updated in both.

That's nice that you're making a guide. It's often not worth recommending something like this process to people due to the steps and some diligence you have to have in doing those steps, but having a guide (that I'm far to busy(lazy) to make myself) would be a big help for the couple times a similar question does come up.

I don't understand how *multiple* days could have been lost. Once 2 AM hits, you pass out, the daily tally screen requires active input to continue, the game should have stopped there for your return, meaning only a single day lost, which can be recovered by backup. Possibly simply force-quitting the game at that point might bring you back to the beginning of that day, before it has a chance to save.

If you didn't sell anything the shipping screen doesn't appear and time just keeps ticking forward.

What ISSsloth said. Personally I've had my daughter unpause the game while the TV is on a different input, or otherwise not had cause to know the game is still running, at least half a dozen times. Normally noticing like an hour or two later. And given it's about 15 minutes per day, if you haven't shipped anything, that's 4-8 days lost. Most of the time I have sold at least one thing and you can just force quit out of the game without confirming or restore from _old files no problem. But my personal record is something like 14-16 days lost, and I'm just lucky I've never fallen asleep while playing without shipping something and lost a season or more. So it can definitely be helpful to know how to handle those situations.
