Does anyone know how to check the hearts stats or how to pet the dog? I think I read you may get a friendship heart for petting the dog.

go to the little chicken in your menu screen to look at animal heart progress or however you say it and by interacting you can pet any animal

also when you get 5 hearts with the dog you could get rewards when you pet them sometimes. i meant to post a link then it broke but look it up
