iOS Does luck affect the Trout Derby tags?

The second day of my trout derby was a very bad luck day and apparently the spirits who were displeased were specifically the river spirits, because I got 2 golden tags off of 18 trout. That is significantly below the rate I was getting on the first day which was neutral luck (and I had a food luck buff for some of the day). Was I just having real-life bad luck on that randomness, or it this a game luck mechanic -- and if it is a game mechanic, I'd like to request that it be toned down a bit!

i think it is based off of luck, but I’m not sure if it’s daily luck. My advice is to use targeted bait so you can catch more and use something like spicy eel or ginger ale to boost your luck.

according to the wiki, it should be a flat 33% chance, so 2 out of 18 is really low.

I was using targeted bait, but after doing the math on 2/18 I gave up and went to do something else which was more interesting. I didn't have any luck buffs to spare in this year 1 farm!
