Can you give your cat fish?

Just started playing Stardew Valley a couple weeks ago after getting the board game. Is there any way to give my pet cat a fish?
No): you can pet your cat and fill it's bowl, but you can't feed it.

Fear not for your cat's safety, however! Your cat is perfectly capable of fishing on its own and will even occasionally give you fish at max relationship level.

Can I give my catfish... to who?

Not many people like catfish, in fact nobody does. I will assume benevolence here so instead of choosing which person in town to annoy with a neutral or even disliked gift, I'll just go ahead and give it to:

Willy.

He's playin' hard to get, running away! I'm sure it's got nothing to do with me smellin' like an old fish.

But I cornered him. Sir, @Terminal_ has requested I give a catfish and you seem the most nearby likely person to enjoy this so here ya go!

Thanks to long hours and years spent out on the ocean, Willy really does not care much for most fish especially when presented raw, and most especially from a farmer who thinks she knows about fishing just because she finally figured out the pointy bit goes in the fish and not her thumb. However by a stroke of luck Willy does prefer a nice catfish, maybe because like cats, catfish are rarely found in the ocean. Somebody got that name right!

Or maybe Willy just took pity on a silly farmer. In any case this all seems to have worked well, so thanks for the suggestion!

Any other gifts I should give?

Unfortunately currently gameplay mechanism doesn't support you to feed your pet.
I know you cooked various delicious food.
But no.
They are only for yourself.
Sadness…

Perhaps deeply in Willy's heart, he loves kitten.
He couldn't adopt and raise a cat because he is allergic to cat's or dog's fur.
It potentially causes respiratory disease.
You know ... they shed their fur everywhere.
Then, he chooses loving catfish as a replacement.
It lives in ocean and without fur.
And they are as lovely as cat.
That is what I conjectured.

Could be taken the other way too...

Yes, you can indeed give your catfish (pond) some amethyst, copper bars, pickles, mayo, and so on, they're creatures of very odd taste honestly
