Bug: Color Customization Option Blocked for Mini-Fridge on Switch (v1.6)

After the 1.6 update on Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch, attempting to change the color of the mini-fridge results in a “locked” symbol appearing over the color selection options. This prevents customization and affect all color choices, except the standard "no color". The mini-fridge cannot be customized as expected.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place a mini-fridge in the farmhouse or other location.
2. Interact with the mini-fridge and attempt to change its color.
3. Notice that after picking a color, the fridge symbol shows a glitched "lock" symbol over it.

Expected Result: After the color selection, the fridge should have changed its color.

Actual Result: The fridge doesn't change its color and a glitched symbol appears at the right of the color selection.

Device: Nintendo Switch

Game Version: 1.6.9.36

Hi everyone,

I’ve searched around but haven’t found any mention of this bug. I’m not sure if this issue existed before the latest update or if it was introduced with it.

What I recall is that the fridge didn’t previously have an option to change its color. Now, I do see the option, but it seems to be glitched.

Has anyone else experienced this, or does anyone have any feedback?

Thanks in advance!

Do you know how to remove hats from horses? I can't figure it out since it only seems to pop off if I add another hat on?
Hey apologies on the slow reply. If you try to put another hat on the horse, it should pop off the original first.

I’ve encountered another bug in Stardew Valley version 1.6.9 on the Nintendo Switch. After unlocking the ‘Master’ fishing skill, which grants a chance for doubled items from crab pots, I’ve noticed an issue. Occasionally, some crab pots produce ‘999’ units of broken CDs or glasses. This seems unintentional, as it doesn’t make much sense. While having a huge supply of recyclable trash is somewhat useful, I still believe this is a bug worth reporting.

Was playing the crane game at the cinema, local co-op on Switch (Stardew version 1.6.9.37) and accidentally falling asleep while at the cinema just takes us both (host and guest) to black screen. Chat options still available, music still playing, but unable to proceed to next day.

This is very frustrating as it’s not always easy to gauge time when going in and out of the crane mini game, as time still passes while in it, and due to the nature of trying to win stuff it’s really annoying to not just lose a day’s progress but anything you’ve won, due to having to hard quit the game from the main Switch menu.

Googling for this brings up a thread elsewhere on another forum but it’s from over a year ago, and the only advice then is to report it on this forum. Would have thought since then it might have been fixed in the latest build, can’t be the only folk to ever have fallen asleep at the cinema! 🙁

Bugs I got playing on switch:

-Workbench not showing items I have on chests properly (red text but can still craft)
-Racoon shop not expanding after completing bundles (it says it expanded but can only buy carrot, brocoli, squash and powder melon seeds)
-Ginger island bird shop will never have golden coconuts for trade (I've already cracked a bunch)
-Ginger island volcano dwarf shop won't restock super meals (bought about 10 once and now it's gone)
- Getting sea fish while fishing on ginger island pond/river, can't catch blue discus.
- Wall of leaves/petals
- Game crashed once but it happened when I left if paused and it was already like that when I came back so I don't know what caused it, I was on my farm.

Found a bug on Switch too.

After I was trying to move my Sloth Skeleton parts to a new place, the Sloth Skeleton R went missing from my inventory and is nowhere to be found. I was trying moving it inside the farmhouse.

If it helps debugging, I had the catalgue and the furniture catalogue on my inventory as well.

Tried going to the lost items shop and the seller doesn't show up as well.

I have the lag problem and the earning screen problem too. Another problem I have is that I am unable to remove wall furnitures. I've tried pressing every button but nothing works
A workaround for this is to use the right joystick to hover over the wall item, in the interim for ya 😘

In addition to the Blue Discus issue, Walleye appears to have disappeared from the Cindersap Forest Pond.

Similar issue as what I bolded above, but on the 4 corner's fishing pond in the bottom left quarter of the farm I'm getting fish from the forest river spawn table instead of the forest pond spawn table, which has never been the case before the 1.6 update and shouldn't be the case according to the wiki. So far, having tested in Fall on non-rainy days, I've managed to catch salmon, tiger trout, and chubs, none of which are in the forest pond fish spawn table.

Have also had the game crash once or twice when I left the game paused for a few minutes while on the farm.

Not sure if it's a bug or not, but I have somehow managed to collect 28 secret notes in a chest (I was purposefully collecting them) despite there only being 27 secret notes. My understanding is that secret notes are supposed to stack if you somehow get two or more of the same note, but either that is no longer the case, or there's a 28th secret note not listed on the wiki. Either way, not sure if this was an intentional change, but figured I would report it anyway.

These bugs were found while playing v1.6.9.37 on Switch.

I have been experiencing the same bugs in co-op that many other people have experience. One thing that I have noticed that I haven't seen mention is that in the mines, when you get to a floor with a chest, I am unable to open it first try. The sound for the chest opening occurs, but no item is received. If you try to open again, nothing will happen. The only remedy that worked was leaving the floor and coming back which seems to work.

Hi, some bugs on switch

Issues with the giant tree stump - four seasonal seeds available after completing first request, other items never displayed at raccoon wife shop like fairy dust, raccoon book or mystery box. After completing requests, there was a dialogue prompt that new items were added to shop but none appeared.

Selected foraging mastery and have not yet received any golden mystery boxes despite receiving many blue mystery boxes through foraging

First selected combat mastery and have only found one trinket so far and it came from ginger island.

Game hiccups and lags sometimes and is much worse during coop

During local co-op have had issues with using bombs or mega bombs in skull caverns. The bomb sort of freezes in a ticking state and no items can be picked up afterwards without exiting the mine completely which as we all know resets the level.

When I press B to see my inventory, the game freezes for 1-2 seconds. It only happens when I load a game, so first B pressing, but if press again B, it won't lag anymore, till I turn off/on the switch again.

I haven’t even got to see any further because nothing fits on our screen. We can’t see our energy or anyone’s full text :p
We experienced the same thing, but while you’re ’in game’, press the home button, toggle to system settings, scroll down to TV settings, toggle to ‘adjust screen size’ and then adjust the corner markers inwards. This fixed our problem…and was the only fix we were able to find with the new update. Hope this helps you as well!

Hey just sharing a list of bugs/causes of crashes encountered since the update (and weren't issues before).

These have all exclusively occured in local coop/ split screen with two players on the switch.

All these occured between year 2 winter day 12 - 16

-The game is now incredibly janky, would previously glitch on occasion when playing but now it is almost continuous. It was fixed when one player 'left the session'. It's not unplayable, bit it's close.

- Placing any sort of bomb in the skull cavern on any floor causes an immediate full game crash. I haven't tried placing a bomb anywhere else, after two occasions we got bored of restarting.

- animation glitch; when one player was in the mines on floor 1, the sword swipe, pickaxe hit and rock breaking animations froze on the screen, meaning the action markers would not disappear. It also did not count the rock as breaking, so no material was gathered. This was a one time issue we havent been able to replicate.

-Finishing the final/hidden bundle with caviar. After going to bed, the game crashed fully, when loading the earnings screen. I think triggering the cinema to appear caused this.

- Earnings screen loading has really slowed down. We were on the black screen prior to loading for around ten seconds (we thought the game had crashed).

I'll update this with anything else we encounter - though we may hold off playing as the jank is getting a bit too much.

All the same, the update is great and has changed the game massively (big improvements across the board - though Im not a big fan of the new fishing meter noise). Massive fan of the book seller and the new skills side of things - always amazed how concerned ape keeps finding new ideas!
Please add raccoon shop not updating (have seen two threads of this) and the betting on the casino slots being hidden behind the possible win-returns and no option to see available funds while betting on slots!

CRASH GLITCH TEMPORARY FIX FOUND:

This is concerning the recent 1.6.9 Switch multi-player freeze / crash glitch (also possibly Xbox).

My roommate started playing Stardew by my rec ~month or 2 ago. She started her own individual account because I didn't end up liking the game at first (playing single-player). Eventually, I joined into her farm about 3 seasons after she started the game. I'm not sure if this condition matters to the freezing. Looking at the forums, I don't think so.

I saw someone on the forums mention that it might be a "memory storage" problem or something along those lines. So I had us reset the game completely - back to the Switch home menu - and completely re-enter. Every 2 days. Our game was freezing about every 4-6 days in game time before. Now? We just went through a full season without a crash. Mining, caves, events, end-of-day saving - all of it worked. Some hickups and noise glitches sometimes still. NO DELETING OF PROGRESS. It saved every night. Thankfully.

Try this and see if it works.

I have this awful glitch where every time I go to check how many monsters I’ve killed in the Adventures Guild hut, it just has the code strings instead? It’s really annoying and I’ve restarted my game a few times. Also opening Artifact arrives crashes the game.

Try updating your game. A patch was released last week that fixed those issues.
