BFAV is seriously outdated and obsolete, that's why I've been converting all the old animals to CP cuz that's how the game handles animal code now

Oh, okay. I don't know much about coding and updating files, so I find it highly impressive what you guys do here. Do you think that it won't be able to update then? Obviously unofficialy since it hasn't been touched for years

Yes. It's unnecessary. That mod made it possible to add modded animals to Stardew. It's no longer required as Content Patcher handles it now

And also I'm not sure if it's possible but to add the ability for them to swim in water like ducks?
Also again, I'm not sure if you would know how to retain the data from old save files? So that the animals in the 1.5 version of the mod will be the same in the updated version?

I can do that for sure. Would you like me to simply send it back when I'm done, or can I have permission to publish it with credit to you for the original?
Also for migrating from 1.5 to 1.6, unfortunately because 1.6 changed the way the game reads animal files, I don't think your original animal data would be retained
