Best Way to Utilize Magic Rock Candy

Found this one late but Rock Candy should definitely be used and rebought. It’s a pretty high value/cost item if you’re doing it right.
Here’s my setup:
  1. Crystallarium shed for farming jade (the more the better, but 30x will do the trick). Go to the trader on Sunday and trade jade for stairs once you have a couple hundred
  2. Whatever ring setup you like. I like burglar/luck/vampire/napalm combined but you could sub out any for other rings
  3. Have desert obelisk or warp totem
  4. Have coffee, health item stack, rock candy, and bombs or bomb materials for 50+ bombs, optional lucky lunch or another rock candy
  5. Check TV every day and wait until there is a very lucky day to go to the skull cavern
  6. Go straight to the skull cavern and immediately use all but a few dozen of your staircases so you are a couple hundred levels deep very quickly
  7. Use rock candy
  8. Keep going lower using bombs and stairs. Use bombs if you are around a bunch of rocks and/or ores, stairs if not. Don’t stop to fight enemies unless you really want to or are running low on stairs
  9. When rock candy runs out you can use another one or lucky lunch if you don’t want to burn part of a rock candy since you won’t be down there the whole time it’s active. Even if you don’t use another luck item you’ll still probably net gain prismatic shards
If you do this right you will net more prismatic shards than you spent on the candy, + a ton of ores. The only resources that get really “spent” in one of these runs is the jade from the crystallarium farm.
