Are there Any Solutions for using JoyCons with MacBook SDV Mods through SMAPI via 1.6?

I fell in love with SDV on the Switch and largely rely on using the Switch joy cons as a preferred controller because I have some nerve damage in one of my hands. I very much want to start playing SDV with the expanded mods on my MacBook (older gen) but have yet to find a way to connect the switch joy cons while running the mods via SMAPI. I wanted to ask the community if anyone has a solution for this, or if anything from the recent 1.6 update has allowed for new fixes for this?
