I noticed some unusual NPC pathfinding behavior on days when the Ginger Island Resort is open.

When certain villagers travel to Ginger Island Resort, they follow a route that passes through a fixed green object near the path between Lewis's house and the bridge to the beach.

I observed this with:
- Sam
- Sebastian
- Leah
- Pam
- Penny

They walk toward the object, collide with it, appear to pass through it, and then suddenly start walking much faster.

I also observed this on the return trip with Leah. Sebastian appeared to avoid the object on the return trip.

When the Ginger Island Resort is not operating, NPCs normally avoid this object.

I recorded a video showing the transition from colliding with the object to walking unusually fast.

Expected:
NPCs should follow a valid path around the fixed map object.

Actual:
NPCs sometimes walk directly into the object and then appear to switch to unusually fast movement.

This is normal NPC behavior. When they collide with any object they can't destroy, including your Farmer, they will pause for a second and then resume their path at a run. It's a game feature some people use with Pam to get her to the Bus faster when they need to get to the Desert ASAP. Your Farmer blocks Pam and she runs to get there faster!

It sounds like Villagers use a fixed path to get to the beach (I didn't know this) while most of their regular pathing is flexible enough that putting an object in their way will make them walk around it. Only fully blocking their path (with a row of Chairs, etc.) will engage the collision and run mechanic.

Oh, I see! It was funny seeing the villagers do Pam’s running trick! 😂
I was wondering why they all seemed to take the same route when heading to the island. 🤔
Maybe they’re just excited to go to the resort!
