Staggering ducks

If I buy a duck and incubate the first duck egg I get, will that result in two ducks who lay eggs on alternate days?
You would have to harvest and put the egg in the incubator ASAP in the morning and then 5 days later check your incubator at after midnight by as many minutes as it took you to get the egg into the incubator that morning 5 days before. It'll be tight. Otherwise you'll have 2 ducks laying on the same day.

I do what One More Day does. I don't incubate ducks.

What's more fun is ostriches. Get a barn just for ostriches... get the first egg, incubate it, get an ostrich. As soon as it lays it's first egg, put it in the ostrich incubator. From then on, as soon as a new ostrich hatches, start the next incubating... until the 7th hatches. When that one starts laying eggs, you will be getting 1 ostrich egg per day every day of the week.

Thank you! I will see if I can do that.

My first farm has two ducks that both lay on the same day, so I have two extra mayo machines just for them that are idle half the time. I'm trying to be more strategic about my next farm.

Ostriches sound fun. I hope I can do as you suggest.

I have three ducks, two were incubated. I put both eggs in the incubator as soon as I found them. Two lay on one day, one on the other.

@.@ Oh dear. Maybe I'll just stick to one duck.

I'm using monster names from Final Fantasy Tactics, which have three colors/tiers for each type of monster. So the original plan was to have three ducks (Flotiball, Ahriman, and Plague) and three chickens (Juravis, Steel Hawk, and Cockatrice). But I also want to have more chickens than ducks. Perhaps Ahriman and Plague will simply be chickens number four and five, instead of ducks.

Wouldn't it be simpler to just wait one day to incubate the egg? Or would that not work for some reason? I haven't actually checked the incubation times.

(Or, of course, just buy another duck the second day.)

Hardest part of this is finding two consecutive days when Marnie is actually open to sell you ducks
Well, that part is easy. She's only closed on Monday and Tuesday. And since her days off are consecutive, it should also work if you buy one on Sunday and the next on Wednesday. (I am aware of the Marnie hate but totally do not get it. I do agree she could do much better than Lewis, though.)

I just don't want to spend the money - by that point I've already paid for the coop upgrade to get an incubator in the first place. I also like watching the animals reproduce. Parthenogenesis for the win!

Well, yes, if you collect the egg in the morning, you could wait a full day to incubate the next one.
