What is your most ‘painful’ (or rage quit and reload save) moment in SV?

OK, I haven't gotten all these Rings people write about and I only recently forged 2 Rings together to make a slightly better Iridium Band but I will never even come close to using the Napalm Band! It's not that it won't be good in the Dungeon/Cavern. It's that I have NO CHANCE of remembering every time to take it off afterwards. The drawbacks will very quickly outweigh the benefits.
I actually really like the napalm band in the mine. And if I'm killing slimes on purpose I usually remember. There's mostly an issue where if I'm using the hoe or pickaxe to get stuff from the quarry I occasionally kill a slime, who explodes, which kills another slime, which....

I was clearing my farm using bombs and I blew up the golden Lewis statue without realizing and saved. I'm still hoping there's a way I can replace it but I'm pretty sure I just permanently lost a unique item. :(

So this literally happened 20 minutes ago:

I had warped to my tree farm in the Desert and had over 2000 wood available if the trees could all be chopped. I had come in with over 200 Pale Broths and an Iridium trash can. I wanted to hurry and chop as much wood as fast as I could so that I could afford Robin's final Community upgrade. I had my Pine Cones at Slot 3, Tree Fertilizer at Slot 4, and my Iridium Axe (Shaving Enhancement) at Slot 5. I had a good system revolving around pausing the game with the "E" key after felling every tree to quickly plant a Pine Cone and fertilize it. I was making good time until I had entered the inventory subscreen by pressing E, then all of a sudden, I accidentally clicked the mouse button and somehow selected my 200+ Pale Broths. No big deal, I thought. I'll just scramble to hit the E key to exit the inventory subscreen and then try to select my Pine Cones again to plant one. However, my left hand also slipped and I don't know what I pressed, but all of a sudden, I saw my money increase by over 12000g, but all of my Pale Broths had completely vanished! :cry::cry::cry:

I knew almost immediately that somehow, they had ended up in my Iridium Trash Can, even though my mouse cursor was never anywhere near that Trash Can.

I had thought about restarting the Day at that point, but I did not feel like replanting and watering 248 Cauliflower Seeds all over again, not to mention tilling and fertilizing that area too!

Did I somehow press a Shortcut Key to Trash the selected item? If that is a rebindable key, then I shall immediately edit it to something very convoluted, like CTRL-SHIFT-T :enraged::enraged::enraged:

Oof. I’d definitely be on the fence on whether I would reload my save if I would have to re-water that many seeds again, along with the tilling and fertilizing.

Hope someone can answer that question of yours. Unfortunately, I do not know the answer ^^;; For the most part, I’m a console gamer (Stardew Valley is the only game that I currently play on console and pc). I use my Xbox One controller when I play Stardew on my pc, since it kills my hand having to keep in the same position, with the same consistent hitting key movements of fingers in that same position, for the directional movements. It causes my CT to flare up horribly than using a controlling does. Not sure I’m properly explaining that (using a controller can still cause it to flare, but not as much as using a keyboard).

The only keys that I use on my pc are ‘E’, which opens up the item spawn menu for me, and ‘P’ which opens up the game cheats/config menu for me.

The shortcut key to quickly trash whatever you're holding is the Delete key. Unfortunately I don't believe it's rebindable in the game, although if you really wanted you might be able to use a seperate program like AutoHotKey to rebind Delete to something else.
(I'm also really curious what your keyboard layout is like, that you accidentally pressed Delete with your hand on WASD and E! My Delete key is all the way on the other side of the keyboard.)

So I think I know what happened now. The same thing happened to me in Skull Cavern (Invasion quest from Mr Qi) just an hour ago. I was trying to animation-cancel while I accidentally opened the Inventory menu using the E key. I am also running the "Auto Hot-Key" program to do my animation-cancelling, and my animation-cancel sequence is mapped to the "X" key. When I was in the Inventory menu, I unintentionally selected an item in the bottom row (probably because my mouse pointer was right there while I was trying to pickaxe a certain stone) then pressed the X key thinking that I was going to animation-cancel with my pickaxe. Next thing I know, my money goes up by some amount, but the space that I selected got emptied out. I do not know even now what that item was, but at least it wasn't something ultra-important like my food supply, bombs, or a weapon.

So it seems as if the "Delete" key's use in a standard (non-scripted) animation-cancel was to blame for my earlier mishap a few weeks ago.

... aaaand I just confirmed it! I opened up my savefile again and experimented with my animation-cancel-mapped "X" key. When I placed my mouse pointer over any item and pressed "X", the item disappeared and I got money because I had an Iridium trash can. The item does not need to be selected first in order for the item to be trashed like this -- the mouse pointer only needs to be over it while in the Inventory menu. Though I do suspect that if the item were selected, then the "X" key (in my case) would cause the item to be trashed regardless of where my mouse pointer is on the screen.

Ah, remapped keys for animation cancel, that makes sense.

Except... does your animation cancel script include the left click as part of the script? (If you don't know what that means, would you mind providing the AutoHotKey script you're using?)
Because if the script is just mapping R+right shift+delete to X (which is what I understood "non-scripted" to mean), then it shouldn't happen unless you click on the item while inside the menu. But if left click is part of the script, that would make sense, because pressing X would be causing it to left click (therefore selecting the object) and then delete it.

I’ve had lots of painful mine re-starts or legendary fishing rage-quits. I’ve also had a game crash at 1:50 am after a hard day of work. That I will forever remember.
But perhaps one of my most desperate rage quits was after getting ‘dark boots’ from a fishing treasure chest. See, I’ve wasted hours and hours in real life fishing for fishing treasure chests. For over 3 years in game I’ve been doing this and have filled up two chests with loot, but have not found the ONE footwear I’m missing. My enemy… work boots. Oh, how I wish my collection was complete, but alas, the 0.012% chance of getting them (as rare as getting a prismatic shard) has made it almost impossible to obtain. So getting dark boots which is as rare as work boots (fishing treasure chest wise) was like a punch in the gut. I re-started the game, hoping that I could try my luck again and get something with the same chance. Nothing. To this day I still hunt those work boots…

I rage quit on year 3 once because grandpa didn’t give me 4 candles and I really wanted the statue of perfection. It was worse because I heard of a way to get multiple of them that I wanted to try. Anyways then I started thinking about it and realized I could’ve done so much better in that time frame. I ended up hating everything about that save and making a new one. (Yes Ik he’ll judge you again if you put a diamond and I tried multiple times before quitting.)

I also rage quit at small inconveniences and reset days so often that I can’t even remember half of the reasons why.

I made a new save to practice clay farming but kept getting the wrong pattern. I checked over and over and I was doing everything right but couldn’t get more than 3-6 pieces of clay. Looking back I realize I should’ve pickaxed the hoed tiles and went back to the beginning for a new pattern. Instead I rage quit and haven’t attempted clay farming since.

Wouldn't say I've had any rage quitting incidents in Stardew Valley. But something oddly small that I find frustrating, is when you go around watering crops, with power up (more than 1 tile), and the stupid git keeps showering his stuff in the wrong direction. I'm going down tile by tile to water five tiles horisontally for example, and then he will suddenly start watering up or downwards for no good reason. The game seems very finicky about placement, and when I'm stressing like hell on Spring 1 for example, stuff like that can get me upset.

So here is the script (sorry it took so long):

Code:
#IfWinActive Stardew Valley

x::

While GetKeyState("x","P")

{
 sendEvent {LButton Down}
 sleep 10
 sendEvent {LButton Up}
 sleep 125
 sendEvent {r Down}{Delete Down}{RShift Down}
 sleep 10
 sendEvent {r Up}{Delete Up}{RShift Up}
}

sleep 30

return

Ah, I see! So the macro does do the left click for you (that's what the "LButton Down" and "LButton Up" lines are for, I believe). So that's why it caused issues, because when you hit X it clicked on the object (thereby selecting it) and then hit Delete.

So to clarify: Hovering over an object in the inventory menu and then pressing Delete won't do anything. The item is only deleted if you click on it to select it (i.e. when the object is "attached" to your cursor) and then press Delete. In this case both things were done by the animation cancel macro.

Oh my goodness you poor people!

But I totally get it all, ah I've had some bad days in SV lost dragon tooth and ps one day.
Oh and recently got to SK had a motherload of iridium rocks and 2 ps and I got KO'd, I left that save and was playing a new 1 for a while to get over my upsettedness, I just went back last night to that save after about a month. But my blue chickens > (Red and Black) made me feel better 😊
