So I didn't forget. And then I did, on account of a 400 mile drive and 9 hours of overdue writing and general life stuff. Farmer Bobbi is not very far removed from me IRL.
The thing that immediately jumped to mind was the sharing ideas bit as that's an age-old tradition and is not only unavoidable but IMO encouraged. Just because someone comes up with an idea doesn't mean that someone else can't adapt it to their work and expand along their own timeline! I realize for copyrighted published works, that's a concern but IMO not here. If someone wanted to write an alt universe Beachy Keen story with a competent, confident, remembery Roberta, I'd love to see it!
I like the personality you're bringing out to your character and had never even thought of a double duty Joja prison from which you're orchestrating your great escape. And of course, I don't even know their name yet!
And as I said,
really like the connection to Leah and Elliott, that's such a
good angle to come to Pelican Town as you can use them as either exposition or integration into the town, so many opportunities. Such a great idea that never would have occurred to me. Jealous! I can't wait to see what their reactions to you arriving in town will be!
And adding "The Prismatic Shard" is a very nice tip and foreshadowing. I consciously and unconsciously add those type of things to almost every chapter I write, little things that connect what's currently happening to Bobbi to things her future likely will hold. I started this in the first chapter mostly by accident as, if you look, the 5 skills the Farmer must master in the game are mentioned once but in a different context, though actually 'Farming' came in the first paragraph of the second chapter as my brain was absolutely fried by the time I finished the first one and couldn't think of anything.
And IMO those things are the fun bits of writing, the easter eggs you leave for yourself as the writer, even if nobody picks up on them. They're one of those things that keeps me coming back, and finding out those little ideas and flourishes you like to write will do the same.
