I have come to that critical moment in every playthrough. . .

We've all been here... We've all done it. Some of us make the same decision every playthrough, some of us change... Today we learn. Today we will discuss that one true pivotal decision. Today, one of you will decide the fate of my playthrough. Members of the Stardew Valley community, I ask you,

What shall I do with Mayor Lewis's shorts! ;P Give me reasons as to why I should keep it a secret, give me reasons why I should ruin his life, give me reasons why!

What do you normally do with the "shorts?"

;P sorry for being so dramatic. I'm in the mood.

I always give them back, discreetly.

Marnie does NOT deserve to be dragged through the mud and gossiped about if you make the story public. Because the local sabbath of Jodi and Caroline will know. They will stand by the town square, talk in clipped words and scrutinize every passing citizen until they know.

I'm a poor, simple person. I give them back and pocket the g. My dream would be to put them in the Luau Soup but I'm usually grinding for the Statue of Perfection and don't want to sacrifice the potential hearts with the Villagers for such a Purple Leaved Lettuce Folly.

However I do wonder what I'd look like in them, so the next playthrough I may delete the Quest from my List (I only recently learned here that you could do that) and then Tailor them up as I look quite smashing in purple.

I always blackmail Mayor Lewis with his purple shorts at the fair in every play through in Year 1. It's just quicker and easier than playing mini-games. And why do I do it? Simple, he has a *spoiler*gold statue of himself*spoiler*. He's just lucky I don't put his "very private" purple shorts on that *spoiler*statue*spoiler* and leave it in front of Pierre's Shop at just before dawn one day so everyone can see it. I just wonder what Clint would do, he always has Lewis collecting his "business tax" every Saturday, and look where it went.

Fisrt game I just gave them back discreetly, second game I did both the Luau and Grange dusplay cutscenes out of curiosity. For the Luau, I felt legitimately bad IRL after the cutscene. It was so vile, I do not wish to ever do that again. The Stardew fair wasn't that bad, but I wasn't exactly proud, and I don't find it worth it regardless. I find it much easier and more satisfying to just score #1 at the display and win those star tokens (largely possible in year one if you know what you're doing).

I did make the purple-trimmed shorts once through the staircase method, but that was just for a Halloween fashion show and not to deliberately antagonise Lewis.

(Off-topic, but how do one delete quests? I can't seem to find out apparently.)

Really? Does that work on switch or no?
I believe it is the same on all platforms.
It does work on all platforms and gives you the wearable version, so don't make the original into the wearable type.
You must put the pants into the cloth slot in the sewing machine and put a gold bar into the imput slot if you want to get them that way but again, why?
Also when doing it, it will consume all staircases, so put the staircases into the pants slot in single item stacks. I once lost 999 staricases for only one pants but wasn't too bad because of being in the end game.
I would make a very small shrine or something of the sorts for fun.
You can give mayor lewis the "knockoff" pants to complete the quest too if you want to really want to finish the quest but you can also just cancel it.
Good luck and have fun.

I like to just hold on to them. Keep my options open. My late game farm is closing in on the end of year 3, been at 99.92% towards perfection for months (just need to craft a tub o flowers after the next flower dance), and has one active quest and a certain set of purple “shorts” in a box. I don’t see that situation changing anytime soon, completing the quest is not required for perfection after all.

YOU CAN DELETE QUESTS?

You don't have to delete the quest, just use staircases to make the wearable versions and give him a pair of those instead, they work.
Keep the originals as you can only get one of them wereas you can get infinite of the wearable type.
