Tea bushes make excellent fences that never decay.

Lightning rods also work but I think the bushes are prettier.

Or you can try some other fences. Wood fence decays quickly, stone, metal and hardwood are slower.

I get the impression that planting Grass beneath a long Fence doesn't give it enough space to expand into a barnyard or other enclosed space far enough every day to keep a full Barn and Coop of animals fed. Maybe even a single one of each (12 animals). I honestly have never tested this, mostly because I really like a super huge giant patch of grass that a pathetic 2 dozen animals and their rampant, slashing lawn mower teeth (Chicken teeth... run!!!) could not even hope to eat over the course of 3 months. This also gives me the option to thin it out with the Scythe every 4-5 days to refill the Silos for that long, sad, poor Truffleless Winter.

How do you get the leaves off tea bushes? I planted some at beginning of spring...in summer now and nothing is happening when I walk up to the bushes ...as usually you just automatically collect stuff from crops if there's anything to collect (on switch version anyway..unless its whet then it says you need the scythe).

iron ore is out I can't even get to level 20 in the mines let alone level 40! might have to abandon the jumino's quest and just get another jojo's warehouse in this game too so I can unlock the bridge to the quarry...hoping there's plenty of iron ore there outside to collect as haven't even managed to upgrade tools past copper ones on FF and there's load of boulders in the way near bottom entrance to farm.

Other option is to start again on the hillside or 4 corners farm so can get enough iron ore for the tool upgrades earlier without having to worry about the mines. I like the beach farm layout too.... I know you can't use sprinklers but they're a waste of time anyway only does 4 squares and better ones can't be got without iron ore or iridium anyway.

I can't remember if I saw a 'stones areas' on the beach farm or not to collect enough copper and iron for the first tool upgrades?

Tea bushes produce tea leaves only the last week of spring, summer and autumn (22 - 28), one leaf per day. They also require 21 days to reach maturity, so if you planted them after Spring 8, they were not yet mature during the spring tea leaves season and you'll have to wait for Summer 22.
Tea bushes can also produce leaves during the last week of winter if grown indoor (i.e. garden pot or greenhouse).

Mining just takes a bit of practice. If you're still using the rusty sword Marlon gave you, try to get a better weapon! You can buy some at the adventurer's guild (it opens after you kill 10 green slimes), but you can also find them in the mines (try destroying some of the wooden crates and barrels) or in fishing treasure chests.

If you kill enough bugs, you get a pretty good weapon as a reward. Just go after the blue ones on the first levels because they don't attack you. You can check your progress on the rewards at the guild, there is a bulletin board next to the counter. Rewards are handed out by the guy in the rocking chair.

Try to go to the mines first thing in the morning on a rainy day and clear 5 levels to unlock the next elevator. Take some food, e.g. foraged berries, mushrooms or fish. Eat whenever your health goes below half.

There's nowhere to get metal on a Beach farm except the normal places. Only the Hilltop and 4-Corners farms have a small quarry area. As for mining, you just need practice and probably a better weapon.

Pierre has an item called "Grass Starter". It costs 100 gold, but if you place it, grass will grow out of it eventually and fill the area (you will have to wait of course).

When you cut down grass for feed, always leave some tufts here and there so it has a chance to grow out again.
You can also buy the recipe for starter grass from Pierre for 1k and then you can craft starter grass with 10 fiber

Are you having trouble getting through level 19 in the mines? It is long and irritating. I heard CA say he kind of regretted making the spiral levels. If I were you, I’d pick a best luck day, stock up on food, make any cherry bombs I can, skip my chores and head right to the mines. Take the elevator to floor 15, work my way down, restarting the day if I can’t make it to level 20. This is how I managed the transition from mobile to PC. Honestly, you have to be able to conquer the mines to enjoy some other content. Not necessarily the game; plenty of people just hang out on their beautiful farms in the valley.

I understand the frustration and of course, you should enjoy the game but I wouldn’t give up on the community center just yet. Fulfilling the bundles teaches you about the game in a way the Joja route never will.

I'm stuck on Forest Farm so had to close it.

Silo has run out of hay and there's no grass left on farm to cut to make more...would happen on a Tuesday so of course Marnie is not behind the counter! Cutting grass outside of the farm has not added anything to the silo.

Also went down mine to get further to get iron ore and on level 19 had busted every rock round to bottom front and there was no ladder to level 20...I'm guessing it's at the other side of the huge boulder thats in my way that needs the iron axe! ..so how am I meant to get further down to get the iron ore to upgrade the axe?
For the hay issue, in the future I recommend always collecting extra grass (not all) and placing it in a chest (I mostly do this to save up for the winter). If you have a lot of animals then this is even more useful, because if you ever run out you just take out the stack and keep it. If you don't know how to collect hay, just go to the feeding station of a coop or barn and keep withdrawing the hay until the silo is almost empty. Then cut all the grass you wish, and you have a bonus stack of hay for later use.

Another trick for the mines is to craft staircases (if you have the recipe unlocked) for 100 units of rock (or you can buy some at the desert trader for one jade each). A bit expensive at the beginning, but rock is always plentiful in the mines, and stairsare very useful for skipping spiral floors, or when you're being mobbed by enemies and want to skeddadle, or seeing the clock tick closer and closer to 2:00, or doing Skull Cavern runs, or whatever else you might do with them.

l also suggest always carrying a couple of extra staircases if you go that way, since you wont be stuck if you accidentally waste one of them by missclicking.

And last but not least, there are a total of three spiral floors in the mines, at levels 19, 59, and 99, just so you know

Yes, there is an item that you will get a recipe for called "staircase" that can be made with 100 stone or purchased for 1 jade each. They make a "ladder" or "stairs" down to the next level so that you don't have to find some the hard way... especially useful for when you're trying to move quickly.

I don't know whether to start my game again as hillside farm with a dog. If the developer isn't gonna add a choice for more dog breeds and different colours in the near future, (ie sometime in the next 6 months) I may as well re-start now. My farm is about escapism from social demands in the real world but the game seems to be as much about social skills as farming in order to get what you need.

I'll still be keeping Kenny's farm as still have 2 sections I hadn't got round to clearing yet so loads of grass I can just move the barn and coop and have made more progress cos of the small rock area giving me some iron ore to upgrade tools.

I'll try and get the greenhouse before winter on that game (warehouse option) andupgrade the house for them then they can have us kids..lol! (which was what this game save is about really).

oh didn't know that thanks...do I need one staircase per level or can I just move the same one from level to level with me?

You need one staircase per level.

I don't think starting on the hilltop farm will help with your mining problems. As far as I know, the spawns depend on your mining level.

As for social interactions, I don't think those are really needed if you don't want to talk to the people. None of the recipes you get for befriending NPCs are vital to the game.

You won't be able to 100% complete the game of you don't want to befriend everyone, or you want to totally ignore mining, but this is just going to slow your progress. I am fairly certain you can still build the farm of your dreams.
