What are some ways you have made a lot of gold?

Hi guys! I am trying out new ways to make gold in Stardew Valley, and I wondered, what are some of the ways you have made a lot of gold in SDV? I know if you have many pigs, you can make truffle oil, and that sells for quite a bit of gold. But I don't think I want to have a million pigs on my farm. Lol. Let's have some fun with this! I can't wait for your response.

I use the very common, minimal effort approach of filling the greenhouse with ancient fruit, filling a large shed with kegs, filling the cellar with casks, and making ancient fruit wine (aging as much of it as cellar throughput allows, which isn't all that much).

One could do a similar thing with starfruit, at the cost of significantly more effort. Likewise I know many people extend their ancient fruit planting outdoors, either on the farm or ideally on Ginger Island.

imnvs demonstrated that beehives work really nicely on the Island - year-round fairy rose honey. If you don't have the clock yet, a protective border of pathing would be prudent. I lost a beehive to weeds learning that one.

The most impressive and unhelpful answer to your question would probably be Shart's Golden Egg Farm. (Unhelpful because by the time you can set this up by definition you no longer need money for anything).

I think the min-max folks make their money by going nuts in Skull Cavern and selling iridium bars. That couldn't be farther from my own playstyle so I don't pay too much attention though.

Ultimately though, making money in this game is a "You know what else works? Anything." situation. It's just a matter of how fast you earn it and how much effort it takes.

Technically, the min-max folks make money mostly by planting thousands of starfruits, the seeds for which are bought by selling iridium bars. But yeah, iridium bars with the Blacksmith perk are quite good money if that's something you have the skill and desire to do. Bombs and explosive ammo help, as do lots of staircases.

Anyways, yeah, I agree with what Worblehat said.

My plan for this current playthrough is to fill every tile on Ginger island with ancient fruit, and use the deluxe retaining soil so I never have to water it, then just pop in once a week and harvest. If I put them in kegs too I estimate I'll clear 1.5 million a week for what amounts to basically 1 day of work. Because the seasons don't change I think this setup would work in perpetuity. If only real life worked like this

That's a LOT of Deluxe Retaining Soil. Iridium sprinklers with pressure nozzles results in a LOT of ancient fruit by itself. You don't need to complicate things. The difference in income is negligible.

For me, ancient fruits in the greenhouse --> casks/kegs and truffle oil has been the money maker. That and aged goat/cow cheese.

aged goat/cow cheese.
Okay, aged cheese is one of the best early things to age... but once you can fill the cellar with 125 kegs all ageing ancient fruit wine (or starfruit), it is time to just sell the cheese or save it for cooking instead.

I’m trying a new (to me) technique that speed runners use. I’m concentrating on fishing and mining early game. The goal is to open skull caverns as quickly as possible and sell iridium bars with the blacksmith profession. It’s going....ok. I want to set up a slime ranch and trying this made sense to me; I’ll need iridium early after all. But, it’s very different from my normal strategy of wondering around randomly and growing too many crops. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I look forward to you telling me how it goes. I'm really interested in your new strategy.

Crystalariums are nice too
Yes, they are nice too. And I heard that if you fill them with jade you can trade the jade in for staircases, so I am currently focusing on getting iridium ore so I can make more crystalariums and try something different. I also want to eventually get all of the obelisks.

I have 4 set up for jade and 4 for rubies. I use a lot of staircases and I use spicy eel everyday.

The first time I made a lot money (back when I convinced myself I didn't mod combat and fishing, I shouldn't buy too much stuff.) I ended up selling a large group of blackberries do to blackberry season, so I woke up to a lot of money from it, which eventually lead to me upgrading my kitchen (the only thing I thought I could buy at that time.)

Not really viable means of getting cash anymore but when the cookout kit was added it sold for WAY too much so I took advantage of that a few times.
