No, there are only very minor things you can miss.

You can take as much time as you need with the main story line.

The quests on the quest boards give you a certain time to complete, but they will keep repeating.

Sam has an early heart event (2 or 4) that will only work in year 1. It takes place on the beach so if you want to see it, you need to be friends with him in summer. I don't think he goes to the beach in fall.

he will talk about his father being away, which won't happen once Kent comes back
.

I was wrong, it's his three heart event and it can still happen in fall:

In any season except winter, enter the beach on a sunny day between 7am and 3pm. This event only happens in Year 1.

There's also Clint's 8-heart event, which you can only see if you haven't seen Emily's 8-heart event. Pretty sure those are the only missable things.

Nothing you permanently miss, but there are a few things you'll have to wait a whole year if you miss.
A small list from a newbie.
Get down the mine and donate fast to the museum, the first prize for 5? donations is 9 cauliflower seeds, a expensive spring crop. You'll want to put these in a 9x9 pattern and keep watering the center even after it's grown. Then the next two prizes are summer crops, so maybe not be too late on them either.

On day one, plant 1 or 2 of everything, especially cauliflower save a couple of each. By the day of the egg festival have 2k saved up, buy 20 strawberry seeds. Then after the festival turn in the spring crop bundle for 20 fast grow fertilizer. Use that fertilizer with the strawberries, sources tell me then you will get one extra crop of strawberries. Strawberries can be sold for good profit or given to Maru and her father, they love strawberries, it can be a quick way to gain their friendship.

Try to go down every day to pick spring onions(especially early days, latter I found other things that needed to be done in the time) Get the spring bundle and plant lots of spring crops(which you turn into more seeds), this will bring your gathering speed up fast. You should be able to be level 5 gatherer before spring ends.

I hear there's one of Leah's events you can miss if you choose the wrong answer on one of her other events, but I don't know too much about it.

If you, imho, screw up Leah's 2-heart event by getting super creepy on her, yeah, you don't get to finish the 2-heart event and thus never get to answer a question that comes up... and if you do so, a later heart event can't trigger because you never answered the question.

This has nothing to do with how quickly one advances or not, however, if we're being honest.

I have 4 major saves in the game and a few experimental ones and I'm still far from seeing all the events. Looked at from one persperctive, I've missed some things in the game but that hasn't detracted from advancement, playability, and most importantly, enjoyment. Looked at another way, I have fun things yet to experience on another playthrough as well as the opportunity to revisit my favorite parts of the game.

Win-win. :junicheer:

In all seriousness though, this is very much a game where you do not get penalized at all for going too slowly. As you've seen in this thread, you miss out on a few cutscenes but it's nothing that really affects the gameplay in any significant way at all.
