PC [BUG] Can't talk to Leo

When I hover over Leo I don't see the chat icon and do not have the option to talk him. I've given walnuts to all of the parrots on the island including the one by the turtle and the one in his home but there's still nothing. Do I need to improve my relationship with him or is it a glitch?

I believe he speaks to you after you reach 2 stars with him, but I may be wrong! I'd try gifting him another gift or two and see if it still doesn't work.

I didn't give him any gifts and he talks. I believe he should start after you give a walnut to the parrot in the house.

I raised my relationship with him and we're now at two hearts but there's still no option to talk to him so I think it's a glitch :/

I remember reading somewhere (I think the wiki, but... well, good luck checking anything there right now) that Leo doesn't "earn your trust" until you have gathered at least 10 golden nuts. I'm not sure if that means speaking to you, but have you that many nuts gathered? Just in case.

I'm pretty certain you need 10 walnuts to give them to the first parrot, unlocking the ability to talk to Leo. I've done this but still can't chat and have had well over 10 walnuts at this point so unfortunately I think it might be a bug or glitch.

Have you checked now that 1.5.2 rolled out?

Hello, I am having the same issue. I am unable to speak to Leo and never have been able to. I have unlocked all the parrots on the island, collected all golden walnuts and done all the mini-games etc. I am at 2 hearts with Leo just from giving him duck feathers for a couple of weeks and there's still no chat dialogue. I just checked again after the 1.5.2 update today and it's still not working. If anyone has any ideas how to fix this, please let me know. Thanks

I'm glad someone else has been having this issue because I wasn't able to find any other posts about it. Hopefully it gets fixed soon but I haven't found any solution yet....

Yeah I checked it out but from the update log it doesn't seem like they've addressed the issue yet. When I launched the game after the update I unfortunately still had the same problem where he wouldn't let me talk to him.
Have you verified how many golden walnuts you've found?

I don't know how many exactly I've collected total but it's well over a hundred because I've unlocked Qi's room. After going around the island buying the different upgrades available thinking this might trigger something I've got around eleven left and no changes.

Okay, just realized nobody has asked if you're using mods yet. Are you?

Also, have you verified your files? (Both GOG and Steam have this option.)

Nope, no mods. I just verified my files and there didn't seem to be an issue with them, I launched the game again to see if anything had changed but I've still got the same issue where I can't talk to him. I appreciate the suggestions :)

It's the usual first steps of troubleshooting for the game, really.

So the platform says the game isn't glitched, and you aren't using mods.

Well, it's possible your save got glitched. If so, a simple examination and repair of the save file would fix it... but I don't know it's the sort of error that could be fixed that way.

Did you view the event in his hut where he tells you his name? You only need to give 1 walnut to the parrot initially to unlock upgrading and after getting 10 of them that event should trigger when you enter the hut.

sorry if I sound dumb but how do I try to repair the save file? I don't have much experience dealing with this

See... that requires a good amount of familiarity with how the save file is put together, and I'm still fairly new to doing such things myself, so I'm probably not the best person to teach you. Basically, in simple terms, you'd have to open the save file in Notepad (or similar) or a code-parsing program (much easier as it formats things to make it easier to read, colorizes, etc) and then pour through it, find the bit that needs editing and change it. I'd be willing to take a look, but I can't guarantee I'll find anything (if it even is an error that can be fixed by such). There are others around here who are a wiz when it comes to that sort of thing, though.
