The fun fact thread

Today (8th October) is World Octopus Day, followed by the Nautilus Nights (9th Oktober) and Squid Day (10th October). Thought you might wanna know... 🤗 And in middle October also the Crab days take place, but only in Germany around the Northern Sea Coast...
All of these sound great(really!!), but I'm not gonna pretend I'm here for something other than to ask you to house me for a bit...
I promise I won't flood your house with hats too much

Just found, there's also a Crab day in the USA:
April 29 is National Shrimp and Scampi Day in the United States. This event takes place annually during the third ten-day period of April.

April 26th is International crab day, specifically dedicated to living crabs...and it isn't formally recognized. Gotta change that.
As long as you don't flood the house with crabs, I'll be fine. Otherwise I'm afraid I'll have to call Willy and Gus for a special on Crab Cakes 😉😇
Yayy!! On my way already!
Pretty sure they won't like it there either, so no crab floods. Only hat floods.
I should buy all the telephones from Robin tho, just in case...

Fun fact: Fire dragons aren't able to blow out the candles on their birthday cake 🤓
Upcoming question: Who'd gift a firedragon a birthday cake at all 🤔

Sounds like something I'd attempt.
More questions: how do said dragons sneeze and cough? Also with fire, or would it be the way to avoid eating a cake with lit candles still on it?

Unrelated fun fact: rats laugh when tickled. And we can't [normally] hear that.

Idk, maybe depends on their ability to control it?

Well, most people probably don't come close enough to check this out, I would say 🤔 (except scientists and people who have rats as pets)

I don't know either. Been too long since I've read anything about dragons, so dragonology isn't something I have lots of knowledge in.

Most of them also produce laughter too high pitched for human ear. You can find audible recordings of it on YouTube though!

Kinda crazy, I never thought that rats could do something like laughter 😂
Yeah. I never really thought about it before, wonder if there are other things they laugh at.

Fun fact: bullfinches may try to improve the melodies they're taught.

Bullfinches? Really? We have a bunch of them around here, but I couldn't tell when they're singing... Too many others around who do better, I think...
People would teach them to chirp melodies by singing one repeatedly and then sell 'em to royal folks. The smartest ones would memorize up to three pieces. Also selling them didn't always work as they'd get attached to the 'teacher' and wouldn't want to sing to another person. Something like that. I've never paid enough attention to notice their singing either, I'll try to fix that...
