Why won’t the updates change a lot of stuff in my oldest save

For some reason when 1.6 was released I didn’t get the dehydrator in the mushroom cave (and yes my farm was the mushroom cave )
ConcernedApe if you see this then pls fix it because I want rival marriages and to see my kids grow up 🤓

I think the dehydrator is placed when the cave is originally set up after you make your choice. Which you did a long time ago, before the update was installed. So the moment for placement has passed already. Adding one retroactively would be complicated, as people might have other stuff in the cave already.

The recipe isn't cheap, but they're easy enough to craft. You need wood, clay and a fire crystal. Pierre sells the crafting recipe.

The updates will allow you to do anything that's still changeable from the point you are playing onward, but there are ALWAYS things that can only be decided at set points in the early game, including from the start. Like, I can't suddenly change to a Meadowlands farm, either, even though it seems really cool.

Really, it's generally still possible to start a new save. You don't even have to delete the current one.

Ye but I’m worried that the same will happen with 1.7
I'm counting on it happening with 1.7. I wouldn't want an update to the game engine to independently start messing with my old saves.

I actually edited one of my saves once - I'd messed up my baby's name - and it was scary to see how much you can screw up inside a save file. No way am I going to let some outside piece of software alter my data file.

I would rather have to buy a dehydrator or a fish smoker or whatever new equipment comes with 1.7 than to suddenly have a new thing appear on all my old farms in odd places and possibly obliterating something else.
I don't know of anything that is new in 1.6 that can not be bought and/or crafted. So you're not missing out, you're just going to have to pay. Or start a new save.

I plan to start a new save with 1.7 if there is a new farm type.

I know but I don’t want to grind for perfection again
