Tech Help: Subnautica 2

Try reinstalling the drivers for your Graphics Card to start. Looks like it's not being detected as every graphics card in the last 10 years supports DirectX 12. Any idea what your graphics card is? Anyway, you can get the most recent drivers from TechPowerUp, see the links for AMD, Nvidia, and Intel at upper right under Latest GPU Drivers.

Ok the GT 730 is an older graphics card nowadays and it's possible, maybe even probable Subnautica 2 will not run on it, sorry! But let me do a bit of checking first as it turns out specifically this is a thing I do a lot.

OK I looked this up and here's my best guess.

There are 2 very different versions of the GT 730 but I don't think that makes a difference as:

• Both support DirectX 12 v11.0, which is an older version and the GT 730 is now a 12 year old card
• Many people can't run Subnautica 2, getting the same error as you and the conclusion is that it requires the new DirectX 12 v12.1, also known as DX12 Ultimate.

The requirements for the original Subnautica were very lenient (it's also an older game now) and it runs on loads of computers. This new version is the polar opposite and some choices were made that I don't like but they are also understandable (grumble grumble) knowing the state of video game design today. They took the "easy" route which made the game harder to run on all machines and impossible on many older ones.

I'll poke about to make sure about the DX12 v12.1 requirement just in case, but it's likely you'll need a different video card or a newer computer. Maybe you can refund the game if this isn't an option? Sorry :frown::frown::frown::frown::cry:

EDIT: Yeah, there's a looooooot of complaining about the system requirements and people getting the same error. I'm 99.5% sure you can't play SN2 on your computer. :frown:
