Is anyone else experiencing issues with the mermaid puzzle on ginger island. Have attempted it several times and just isn’t completing for some reaso. Any ideas or help it’s driving me insane. Not just me but some friends as well.

I’ve followed the stardew wiki and a few other solutions but just not working at all. Not sure what’s going on with it. It’s so annoying I’ve quitthe game in frustration .

ps thank you for the reply

Maybe try removing and placing the flute blocks again and double check you've set each to the right tone.

How many times are you clicking in each block? Try one less. Which way are you running past them? Try the other way. Are they spaced out the right amount, lining up with the hint stones?

Yep tried all that as well, spent something like four hours trying to figure it out in total. Have spaced them correctly etc. Tried one less etc. Tried running past both ways. Just nothing works.

Most of the answers for this riddle you find on the internet are plain wrong. But they go into the right direction. The tiles where you place the flute blocks contain small and big pebbles. Small count for one, big for five. The initial count for a flte block is one. So if you have two big and one small pebble, you have to right click exactly ten times (10+1 = 11).
First place all the flute blocks. Then go from left to right and tune the blocks, then go from left to right again just to play the melody. It may help to note the numbers you have to tune them after placing a block. Hope that helps.

When you run past, does the mermaid react at all? Also, are you playing with any mods?

Not playing with any mods and the mermaid didn’t react. I’ve managed though today to get it to work. i put the flute boxes above the stones and then followed what someone put here and it worked. just need to work out the cave one now.

Indeed this is the solution. I just went back today - again - to retry. The person who wrote the guide I initially followed was saying "tap 11 times to tune to 11" when in fact, if you've placed the block it's already tuned to "one" so to get to 11 you need only 10 taps. I had to pick up and reset the block if I lost count. I also ran on the ocean side of the blocks so I could see the mermaid start to dance after the first two notes (my res sucks) and then I knew I was on the right track. There's a short youtube by Mr Juicebags out there that is great.

I've seen switch players having difficulty in other comments, and that may be the port to that system being weird. I'm on a PC.

Except that when I did it, just within the last 24 hours, on my save that just got there... I tuned it by putting it down and then, for example, tapping 11 times when I had two big rocks one small. I'm on PC too.

Walk don’t run. Take your time. I failed because I played the tune too fast the first few times.

I created an account just to reply to this lol cause I struggled so hard so I hope this will help someone. Anyway I finally figured it out after HOURS of trying and YT Vids (I’m on switch btw, which is a bit harder cause you’re not sure whether you’re really pressing the block or not). Anyway, try to fine tune it to the mermaid song (I suggest checking SyncG2 YouTube video because she doesn’t outright tell you to follow the 2 - 11 - 9 - 5 - 7 code or one number less than that but instead she just sort of fine tune it as you would a guitar or like when you’re testing notes on a piano and you can adjust it up and down accordingly). Listening to the original mermaid song and comparing it note for note was really helpful and also the comment above was also correct about walking slowly when you replay the notes cause when you run, some of the notes might not play). And another big one is to watch the mermaid’s reaction for each note. If she dances to her, it means that note is correct and if she stays still, just fine tune it until you get it right. Hope this helps!
