AMA about my game

So, for a while now, I've been preparing the lore and story for a game I want to make.
I had an AMA over on the Deltarune Wiki, and people really liked it!
So, seeing how much people loved it, I wanted to share it further and have an AMA here!
So, ask me anything about my game, Chronicle of Regantium.

Also, if you want to see any questions that were asked and answered over on the Deltarune Wiki, I have it here. https://undertale.wiki/d/t/finally-i-have-my-game-figured-out-mostly/4096[/URL]

What inspired you to make your own game?
A lot of things. The main thing was me seeing all these indie games having such success. And they're great! They've got amazing stories to them. And that's the other part.

A while ago, I found that I really loved writing. I wanted to write my own stories, and share them with the world.

In a time where gaming is becoming a behemoth of a medium, with me wanting to share my stories with the world, and also having the same love for these games as others do, I wanted to tell my story through a game.

That, and my Mom is also an aspiring writer... so that definitely helped spark a passion!

I totally agree with you and that's awesome!

whats the game about?
For the first couple parts of the story, the youngest prince of the Kingdom and a commoner boy train together, learning about the world. The prince, Sylo, starts learning how to handle his royal duties, and the commoner boy, Coren, gets to tag along for some cool trips with Sylo. Essentially, the first couple parts are heavy world building, following the main characters as they grow up. I don't think there's much else I can reveal without going into spoilers.

How did you come up with names? (For both characters and locations, but mostly locations)
For locations, it's what's in there. Sylo and Coren's teacher is named Cedrin, and I correlated that to "cedar," which is a tree with needles, so I named the town Cedrin lives in "Needlehelm." For characters, I tried using a name generator, but none of them felt right, so I kinda just started making random sounds and extending them. Basically, I just wanted names that sounded "right" for the characters. For things like the royal family, I made pretentious-sounding names, and for commoners like Coren I made names that still sound like old names, but also that you could encounter them in the real world. For some other characters, if they're related to another character, I'll give them a similar name, and for filler characters, I'll probably just give them generic names or no names at all.

Does it have a magic system? What's it like?
The magic system is... complicated. Basically, magic pops up everywhere, randomly. Different types of magic just appear randomly. They each have their own restrictions and advantages. There's hundreds of them -- I would never be able to truly detail them all. Generally, one or two new types of magic show up each year. There's no explanation as to why it happens, it just does. Scholars gave up trying to find a reason centuries ago. They've shifted their focus to documenting them and teaching them. Anybody can learn magic, but every person has different types of magic that they have a harder time learning. Generally, magic is about as strong as physical combat, so most people just pick whichever is more convenient for them.
