Lucky you, finding the Basilisk Paw, it's my favourite trinket so far besides Frog Egg and Ice rod.
Volcano Level 9 is a hard one btw. while you always need time, but in the end you have to get through only once 😊
My favorite trinket is the Magic Quiver. The perfect form of that is really good at keeping monsters away while looking for the way down in the Skull Cavern or dangerous mines, and doing enough damage to have a chance of killing the monsters for loot if it takes long enough. Those kills don't count for any monster-killing request or monster hunter goal, but it's easy enough to remove it if spotting the type of monster you need to kill yourself.

I use Frog Egg and Quiver much more after solving the Monster Quests for Marlon. But you have a point, yes.

I had a streak of good luck days, so I went to skull cavern almost every day, had a ton of fun and found the THIRD lucky ring on this save file. Also all iridium got smelted into 350 bars. Some of them went into crystallariums cuz I thought my quartz production is not fast enough, the rest I kept for now, probably gonna just sell them. I built the island obelisk, only desert one left. Picked up the extended family quest again, caught 6 gold quality legend two's in one day, which I smoked and sold with other goodies I've been hoarding. That gave me enough money to build it, so now I just need to collect enough cactus fruit. Went to the island gather some hardwood, as I plan on getting a lot of pets and I want all of them to be happy, so I'll build each a bowl. My first dinosaur from a mod grew up, just as I got enough blossom coins for the next one.

Maxed out hearts with some more people, only 4 to go it I remember correctly, same with fishing and shipping collection, all pretty close to being done. I haven't toughed cooking or crafting all though, so gotta get to that later. Went into Y3, got all 4 candles lit and grabbed the statue of perfection. Also set up my bee houses and planted mixed flower seeds in the middle, I think they're gonna look nice like this. I don't care if honey won't be the most profitable, I only need a lot of money for the gold clock, and I don't plan on buying it until I get the living hat, and for that I let my GI farm get overrun with weeds.

Realized I hadn't made an iridium ring for the combining, so I had to scrounge up some iridium bars and make one. It made me think about how ridiculously small the iridium bars have to be if we need 5 for a ring, and that the rings should be renamed bracelets.

I also had to find the last few rock crabs for the crabshell ring. But now I've got iridium + crabshell, and burglar + slime charmer, making my dungeon ventures easier, until I get a lucky ring. Thanks to those rings, ignoring the crates that would've required a small detour and at least one floor being a mushroom floor with false magma caps, I did make it to the forge on top of the volcano. No rare chest though, not even on the 9th floor. It was just an ordinary chest. It was, however, the floor with several gates and a lot of false pressure plates, and it made me quite proud that I made it through that with time to grab the chest too. Even if it only contained pineapple seeds. I even had time to get down to the farm and use the obelisk to get home. I think I'll have to revisit the volcano on a high-luck day and search each floor for chests.

Picked up a Danger in the Deep quest, and completed the last 20-30 floors with staircases gained from a detour to the desert on that last day. Admittedly I did waste the first day of that quest in the volcano, and wasted some time gathering hardwood from the first few forest floors of the dangerous mines.

It's almost time for the Festival of Ice, and the baby is now crawling. Gave Sebastian a frog egg, and now there are two frogs in his frog sanctuary. Have enough money to build two obelisks (closing in on any 2-3) but am currently lacking the iridium bars for any of them. I guess I'll need to visit the Skull Cavern some more. It just tends to end up as something with low priority, until I've got combined rings.

Skull Caverns are so obnoxious to prepare for.

I have the bottom row of one of my chests specifically for sc so I can grab everything i need quickly when I see a good luck day
I hate planning and that's why I'm holding off playing Stardew rn since it's so stressful having to run everything. Main reason I can't get a Year 5 farm or something even though I've been a player since the 1.5 days. I enjoy stuff like GTA and am currently replaying Vice City since I can just hop in do some glitches get money and shoot people with a gun. No planning and if I die I die.

Gave Abigail an amethyst for Winter Star, and the one who had my farmer as their "secret friend" gifted some quality speed-gro. :unamused: Though I admit that it is a useful gift. Finally found a rare chest in the volcano, and my banana tree have started to produce fruit. Once I'm down to the 6 golden walnuts I'd rather pay the parrot than get for myself, I should do that. Almost to year 3, and looking forward to getting an easy source of iridium ore, even if it isn't much per day. Soon I'll have both the iridium and the bananas for the Island obelisk.

I have been going to the volcano instead of the Skull Cavern, mostly to look for a rare chest for its golden walnut. Also to take the opportunity to get Leo some hearts so he'll move to town. Not quite there yet. One more heart...

Picked up the quest Qi's Cuisine, and have so far shipped about 80% of the required fresh food, just from stuff I had hoarded for this purpose. The alternative was the hungry Skull Cavern run and I've yet to reach floor 100 normally. I really don't want to complete a Qi quest just to be reprimanded about how I did it.

It's early summer in Year 5, and I've made a few more changes to the farm, had Robin build three new fish ponds, and moved the chicken coop. After a tough battle, the rain on the last day of spring washed the Legend into my net, and at the beginning of summer, I also caught the Crimsonfish. And I finally found an Ostrich Egg, so I have one in the farm soon. I really like the sounds they make when petted...
I'm currently trying to grow Qi fruits for the first time, but I doubt I'll manage it in the end. 500 is a quite big number. But they certainly look funny in the field. Still waiting for the Dangerous Mines Quest to get some radioactive ore... Elliott is still happy and finds living on the farm inspiring. He now gets Squid Ink and duck feathers regularly, so hopefully he'll make progress with his new book. And the money keeps rollling in steady, everything's ok so far.

500 of any crop is pretty daunting lol.

I also think it's a bit silly what you sometimes get as gifts... And you don't have the option of saying you don't like it, you're automatically happy. Somewhere in the background, an obscure list is created with the things that farmers apparently like, and you have no influence over it... I've sometimes wondered whether this could be incorporated at the beginning when you create your character, as you can also specify your Stardrop thoughts.
But I won't complain to much, Alex and Gus both gifted me a Tea Set once... ☺
