Hey everyone! @PorkChop here. Just wanted to ask if anyone here has read the book Dune. It is pretty much the ORIGINAL Star Wars. It is really good. Totally random but just wanted to ask. If not, I HIGHLY recommend it. (There is 6 of them.)

I have read Dune, and I really like the series! Definitely one of the great sci-fi stories. I will say I think they get a bit more complicated to follow as the series goes though.

I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming movie adaptation, whenever that comes out! I hope it does a good job with the story and that they're able to make a sequel for it as it apparently only covers the first half of book one.

YES! The movie looks incredible! I do agree though, they are VERY hard to follow.

See, you're part right. Frank Herbert did indeed write 6 books in the Dune series before he died. He didn't finish the series. He had more he planned to write.

Then, 20 years after his death, his son Brian, using his notes and with the help of another fine gentleman, wrote the last two books in the series, as well as a passel of prequels.

I have all 8 books (6 by Frank, 2 by Brian) in the series, and 1 of the prequels, on my shelf right now.

I did hear about the others but I only have 6. That is a nice little history lesson though. THANKS!

Dune is one of my favorite sci-fi series out there! I am really glad the movie adaptation was pushed back one year. The Syfy adaptation of the books was my first introduction to the series and I have been in love with them ever since.

I really love the world built by Frank Herbert and hope that some day we will get more video games set in the Dune universe(preferably rpg but I am not picky) !
