What do you do/what do you spend your gold on in Spring?

Just seeing the different ways that I can do things. Some people get the watering can upgrade first, some the pickaxe or axe. Some get the backpack and Fiberglass rod upgrade.

Or some might focus on animals or whatever. Just wanting some ideas. I tend to do the same thing over and over, and I am wanting to spice things up. I usually fish a lot for gold, I'll get what upgrades I can (If I get enough gold and smelt enough bars I'll get the Pickaxe and Axe Upgraded). I like getting the backpack upgraded ASAP, and the Fiberglass Rod ASAP.

I don't mind the mines, but I do usually fish more, making my way down to level 100 pretty slow (Any ideas there would be nice). I've gotten better with the mines, but I wouldn't mind some tips and tricks.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

Honestly you're best off spending money on the things that'll immediately pay themselves off, or that'll make your life a lot easier in the short (and long term). Generally that boils down to crops/basic animal infrastructure/fishing rod, or things like the regular tool upgrades, backpack. If you like to fish more, that'll probably be the backpack and rod like you said, though if you want to work on going down in the mines faster, the copper pickaxe alone literally makes a world of difference, and the iron is enough to get you through the entire mines pretty easily.

People will inevitably do different things depending on how they like to play and how experienced they are, as it doesn't really make much difference in the end. It's better to choose something you do like and spend money on that than having to feel pressured to spend money on specific things in a specific order each time you play.

Getting a better fishing pole is a high priority, as I want to be able to attach bait.

For upgrading the 4 basic tools, my priorities are: pickaxe, axe, watering can, hoe. This is mainly because I play on my mobile, and trying to charge the can or hoe is often a waste of time as the game might choose to have me run in that direction instead, or aim in a different direction than I wanted. The watering can upgrades are useful mainly because they make it hold more water. Oh, and after upgrading the axe to steel, it's also lower priority since it can chop all it needs to. Upgrading it makes you use less energy to fell a tree, but also fewer chances of the tree dropping things.

Making sure to buy all the seeds for the season and get the crops growing early enough, especially cauliflower as it takes the longest time, and strawberries after the egg festival. The first spring the strawberries eat a good chunk of money as I aim to get 72 seeds.

Getting the first backpack upgrade is also really helpful and gets bought as soon as I can afford it in the second half of spring.

Past that, once I've got enough resources, building a coop and then a barn. (or just a barn if I'm playing the Meadowlands farm)

Fiberglass fishing pole from the profits I get fishing. Also backpack upgrade and if I'm feeling like it I will clear the mines a few floors and get a water can upgrade.

A backpack upgrade is essential. And saving money for the strawberries hook you up for the summer and gives you a lot more financial freedom to buy upgrades and such. Water can is my first priority at least for the first upgrade then I think the pickaxe should become the priority.

I was going to say something similiar to @FilthyGorilla. Buy things that make your life easier, as well the items relevant to the things you like to do in the game most.

It sounds like you do a lot of fishing so it would be good to spend money there, and always the backpack!

But you did say you'd like to see if you can do things a bit differently so maybe get into farming (crops and fruit trees) and foraging more?

So buy the backpack and the upgrades for the watering can and hoe, then the axe.

More preserves jars and kegs to process all your crops, fruit and forage too.

Apart from ancient fruit and starfruit, strawberry seeds are good to buy in spring as strawberry jelly makes a decent profit and you can keep harvesting from the strawberry plants several times a season. Also if you have fruit trees pomegranate and peach jelly sells well.

I find farming keeps me really connected to the seasons in the game a bit more, it's been nice.
