Few doubts from a new player

Hello and good evening!

I am on winter year 2 and so far I have some doubts I couldn´t find in any guides or the wiki, I hope some of you can help me out :)

- The blue chickens from Shane, Can I get them from hatching eggs? Or only buying them?
- When an animal has reach full hearts of happiness do I need to keep petting them daily? Will they lose those hearts?
- Is there any tips about where to dig in the mines? I feel like I missing so many artifacts from the mines or skull cavern because I cant just dig up all the sand spots, and I can´t seem to find any artifact spots inside the mines.

- I was on level 10 of the classic mines and when I went down to 11th, the little purple number on the top left dissapeared and I found skulls like in the quarry cave and after founding the saits I was in level 12 like nothing happened? What was that? Any clue?

1. You can hatch the chicken from white eggs, or buy a chicken at Marnie's.

2. They lose hearts very slowly. In seasons when they can go outside and eat grass, they gain more points than they lose. In winter, I think you need to pet them every 3 or 4 days to keep them at full hearts.

3. There are no artifact spots in the mines. Some artifacts can appear at all levels, some only on lower levels or from monster drops. When you get to the point where you're only missing a few items, I recommend looking those specific ones up on the wiki.

4. That's a dungeon floor, a special type of infested floor.

1 - If you want to guaranteed blue chickens, go to Marnie. Tell her you're going to buy a chicken, and then you get the dialogue telling you to pick a coop for your "(color) chicken", and if it doesn't say "blue" you back out, then select the option to buy a chicken again... repeat until it says "blue chicken". They can hatch from white eggs, if I understand correctly, but there is no guarantee.

2 - Friendship with barn/coop animals (friendship points on a scale that goes from 0-1000) goes up from petting (+15, or +30 with the correct profession), milking/shearing (+5) and being allowed to go out and eat grass (+8)... but it goes down if the animal is not fed (-20), does not get any pets (variable, between 5 and 10), or is trapped outside at night (-20). If you don't pet the animal it will lose 5 (if maxed already, -10 if under 1 heart), so at best you'd have to pet 1 of 3 days, and at worst 1 of every 2. (I still recommend pets every day as it is easy/quick if you close the barns/coops at night and that allows you to grab their production for processing instead of letting it back up.)

3 - As Ereo said, there's no artifact/forage spots in the mines.

4 - As Ereo said, but misspelled, that was an infested level of the mines. You can avoid having these by drinking Oil of Garlic. (You'll need 1 oil and 5 garlic to make one.)

Minor correction from the post above-- there aren't blue eggs, only white and brown ones, so blue chickens are a variation of white chickens. However, agreed with everything else. I didn't know you could hatch blue chickens from the eggs either, I thought they were only from Marnie!

As I can not multi quote here, at least I don´t know how, I want to thank you all for your time and answers.

I knew about an infested floor, but I didn´t know I could face monster from other caerns or mines, strange...

Once said that, let´s get to find those 8 blue chicken asap :) :)

So, only my first farmer has blue chickens and I didn’t realize you could buy them from Marnie! I hatched all of mine from white eggs.
