animals in winter

this is really, REALLY nitpicky but I have to get this off my chest

WHy do the animals stay inside all winter? I've owned chickens and ducks, and I live in the Okanagan region of Canada. They went outside every day. Its not like stardew valley gets tons of snow..... its stupid but i get worked up over small things XD

ALSO THE CAT ON MY FARM GOES OUTSIDE ALL DAY SO??????

maybe its just a weird little in-game thing because they get cold? all the farm animals excluding pets need heaters or they'll get cold and upset so maybe it's just because of that :P

trueeee but again, my chickens went out in the snow XD idk maybe canadian chickens are just built different haha

Since grass doesn't grow outside during winter I guess there isn't much practical reason for animals to go outside. Might also be a balancing design choice for the pigs, who knows.
